Midgets get victory
The Exeter pee wees split a
pair of Shamrock hockey
league games this week. The
locals thumped Ilderton 11-1
Wednesday night on home ice
and Saturday in Goderich lost
7-1 to the lakeport town
youngsters.
Wednesday night, after 11-
derton scored the only goal of
the first period it was all Ex-
eter the rest of the way with
11 straight goals.
Leading the Exeter scoring
attack with a four goal perfor-
mance was captain Jon
O'Connor. He also picked up
three assists 'op goals by his
mates.
Close behind with a hat
trick and three assists for his
night's work was Steve
Anderson. Jeff Dalrymple.
fired two successful shots on.
,passes from Mark Coward,
Jamie Oke and Larry Lewis.
Scoring in single .fashion
were Jeff Rowe and Doug
Clark. Rowe assisted three
times and helping on one goal
apiece were Mark Coward,
Tom Rolph, Jeff Chipchase
and Rob McKnight. •
The lone Ilderton score
came from the stick of Kevin
Leitch on an unassisted effort.
In the loss to-Goderich the
lone Exeter goal came late in
the third period . on an
unassisted, effort by Steve
Anderson.
Scott Garrow and 'Bill
Trebish each scored two goals
for Goderich and singles were
added by Bill Whetstone,
Greg Alcock and Jeff Boyce.
\lidgets win
The local midgets posted a
5-3 win over Ilderton in
Wednesday's triple -header at
the rec centre. The locals took
a 3-0 lead and then hung on for
their second win of the
season.
Steve Gould paced the win
with three goals and an assist.
Don Hamilton and Dave
Woodfine connected for the
single tallies.
Mike Tiedeman -recorded
three assists, Scott Lovie had
a pair and singles were co'h-
tributed by Doug Scott,
George Pratt and John Wells.
Houseleague action
The Exeter Bell atoms
posted two wins in Huron -
Perth houseleague action
over the past two weekends.
On Saturday, they clipped
Clinton 3-1 after posting a
similar verdict over the other
Exeter entry the previous
weekend. '
Rob McLelland had two
goals against Clinton and
Mark Russell popped the
other. Drawing assists were
Justin Charrette, Michael
Clay and Glen Quinn.
Mark Russell had two goals
against the other Exeter en-
try, while Charrette had the
single. Jim Ahrens scored for
the losers. Brent Lammie and
Quinn had an assist each for
the winners.

Exeter atoms, in first place
in the Shamrock north divi-
sion, split a pair of weekend
games against two of the
league's top teams.
Friday night in St. Marys
the locals gained an im-
pressive 7-2 victory with their
strongest showing of the
season.
Two goals by David
Dalrymple with assists from
Tim Van Dam and Craig
Soldan, started Exeter to a 2-0
first period lead.
After Travis Oakes scored
for St. Marys early in the se-
cond, Dalrymple completed
his hat trick with help from
Rob McLelland and Soldan.
In the third period Exeter
completed the route on goals
by Van Dam, McLelland, Al
Bloomaert and Todd McCann.
Assists were registered by
Jason Hern, David O'Connor
and Mark Burton. Jamie
Bedard,- Harlen Tinney and
Brett Lammie turned in
strong performances and
Steve Sillery provided clutch
goaltending particularly in
the first period.
In Goderich Saturday, the
locals came close but fell 5-4
at the hands of the strong hast
club:
Tim Van Dam was the of-
fensive leader in the loss,
scoring two goals, while
singles went to Tinney, and
O'Connor. Hern, McCann,
O'Connor and Tinney picked
up assists with Steve Sillery
again providing sparkling',
goal -tending.
Bantams lose
The Exeter bantams were
defeated 5-2 by Listowel in a
tournament in Clinton Satur-
day and were defeated 6-1 by
St. Marys in Shamrock league
play earlier.
In the loss to St. Marys the
only Exeter goal was
registered by Ron Loucks on
a pass from Sean Whiteford.
The first Exeter goal in the
loss to Listowel came from
the stick of Chris Tiedeman
on a three-way combination
with Dave Woodfine and Sean
Whiteford.
Brian Quinn deflected a
point shot from Ted Lawson
early in the third period to
complete the Exeter scoring.

Gymnasts starts
The high school gymnastics
team has started preparing
for the Huron -Perth meet
March 16. The. 23 girls are
practicing their moves for the
floor exercise, balance beam,
uneven bars and vaulting.
