NEW COMPUTER Teacher Larry Weido holds one of the preprogrammed topes
for the Zurich Public School's new computer. Waiting their turn are (from left) Mat-
thew Ferguson, Andrew Scott and Sherri. Erb. In front, Richard Gingrich is seated
next to operator David Theil.
Pubiic school ets com uter
A popular addition to the
equipment at Zurich Public
School is a new computer,
paid for through fund-raising
activities coordinated by the
studentcouncil. Under the
supervision of teacher Larry
Weido, children in all grades
take their turn at the console.
Prepackaged programs are
designed to assist the students
in all areas of education, in-
cluding English, math and
science.
The operation of the com-
puter helps the children im-
prove eye -hand coordination,
and learn to think quickly.
The operator receives instant
feedback on how well he or.
she is doing. Each child pro-
gresses at his or her own rate.
"They don't have to unders-
tand how it works to be able
to use it", Weido said.
Judging by the lineup of
children waiting their turn to
match wits with a machine,
the new computeris one of the
most popular educational
tools at the Zurich Public
School.
