Seniors enjoy day
Mrs?Oen Doyle spent last
week in Toronto visiting with
her daughter Mrs. Evelyn
Houston and husband.
Fourteen senior citizens en-
joyed a nice sunny day last
Friday while going to Toron-
to by bus to the Royal Winter
Fair, with another group of
seniors. More interesting bus
trips coming along are: Tues-
day NoveMber 30, a day out to
visit Swaines Greenhouse and
go through the Tender Toot-
sies Shoe Factory in Glencoe.
($15.00 each); Friday,
December 3, a trip to see the
Christmas lights in Simcoe
which includes a roast beef
dinner and trip to Coyles fac-
tory outlet, ($24.00 each); a
three day pre -Christmas
outing to Frankenmuth,
Michigan, hotel accomoda-
tions, chicken dinner, shopp-
ing in Flint, Michigan, etc.

Congratulations to Gib and
Genevieve Ducharme who
celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary on November 21.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Denomme
and Diane of Goderich had a
family dinner with them last
Sunday, and neighbours had
a little get-together for them
on Tuesday.
Mrs. Josie Dietrich
celebrated her 79th birthday
on Monday. November 22.
For a get-together last
weekend at her home, coming
from Toronto were her son,
Kenneth Dietrich, (Scar-
borough), her daughter, Mrs.
Theresa Galsechy and grand-
son Dan and grandchildren
Michelle and Denise.
Welcome to town Bill and
Cheryl Polen (nee Rau) who
have taken residence in the
former home of Irene Brisson
on Goshen Street. South, to
Mrs. M. Culbert who has
moved into the Spruce Villa
Apartments from Dungan-
non, and to a newly married
couple, Dan and Irene Camp-
bell, who recently moved in-
to the former home of Ken
McCarter on Goshen Street.
Everyone is invited to the
Mennonite Bake Sale and
Bazaar to be held at the Men-
nonite Church this Saturday
November 27 from 2-5 in the
afternoon.
Have papers ready at the
curb this Thursday (25th) for
monthly collection at 6:30
p.m.
Those returning home from
the hospital last week were
George Haggitt, Helen Creces
and Mrs. Theresa Hartman.
Pete Ducharme, Windsor,
formerly of the Blue Water,
passed away on November 12
and was buried at St. Peter's
Cemetery, St. Joseph last
Monday. His wife, Eleanor,
81, also passed away on Sun-
day November 21 in Windsor
and was laid to rest beside her
husband on Wednesday.
Many friends and relatives
from this area attended both
funerals.
Little Jillian and Jeffrey
Flaxbard of Kitchener spent
the weekend with their grand-
parents, Earl and Anne while
Mom and Dad were away.
Best wishes for a speedy
recovery to Doreen
Denomme and Mr. Noel
Laporte. Both are patients in
I university Hospital, London.
Krystal Annette Ziler, in-
fant daughter of Mr. and Mrs
Michael Ziler, was baptized
on Sunday November 14 at St.
Boniface Church by Fr.
Mooney. Also baptized was
little Melanie Rebecca
Regier, daughter of Wanda
and Cecil Regier, with god-
parents being John and Val
Van Oosterhout, of Windsor.
A pre -Christmas family
get-together was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
Regier, on November 13 as
they are heading south for the
winter.
Martin and Thesesa Van
Raay spent the week -end in
Toronto with friends, Frank
and Janet Winters (nee
Bilcke).
Remember, beginning
Monday November 21 the
Bank in Zurich will close at
3:00 p.m. but will remain
open until 6:00 p.m. on Fri-
days.
A lovely surprise farewell
dinner was held in honour of
Alice` Thiel last Friday
November 12 at the Dominion
Tavern. All 70 of her RR 2
of/cIert OfimpJeJ -
It looks as though we could
be embarking on another
beautiful week. Every nice
day subtracts one less from
the winter ones which are
bound to come.
Movies were shown on Mon- •
day evening followed by
refreshments.
The regular monthly birth-
day party was held on Tues-
day evening. The programme
was provided by the Crediton
Women's Institute which con-
sisted of violin and piano
music, vocals, poems and
community singing.
Residents having birthdays
during the month of
November and receiving
gifts, courtesy of the Ladies
Auxiliary were Mrs. Alice
Baker, Mrs. Maurine Webb
and Mr. Ferdinand Haberer.
Following the programme,
the Crediton Ladies served a
delicious pinch.
In case you are not aware,
we are collecting Zehr tapes
again. Thanks to all our con-
tributors of tapes, we were
able to get a geriatric chair
for use in the hospital wing.
We are trying again to collect
enough tapes to exchange
them for some useful piece of
equipment. You may Ieaye,
them hereat the office or with
some member of the ladies
auxiliary.
Bingo was played on Friday
evening followed by
refreshments.
The Sunday evening chapel
service was conducted by
Rev. Brian Elder of Crediton
United Church. Mrs. Ed Fink-
beiner presided at the organ
during the service.

Zurich mall customers were
on hand for a delicious turkey
meal. Alice will be retiring at
the end of November from
delivering mail since 1958.
She began with her hus-
band, Earl, then took over by
herself after his death in 1961
until now. And the, route has
been in the Thiel family since
1937 as before that her father-
in-law George Thiel had the
route.
A gift of money was
presented to her along with a
little gold mail box. She did a
very good job as mail lady
and come rain or shine or
snow she was always on time!
On Tuesday November 16,
the ladies of St. Boniface held
their C.W.L. meeting in the
school gym following mass
for vocations. Special speaker
for the evening was David
Dirks from Kitchener on
behalf of the March of Dimes:
A very interesting film- "One
Giant Step" was enjoyed by
all.
Ladies from the Lutheran
and United Churches were
also invited.
Following lunch the
business began. A total of 30
members and 20, guests were
counted. A thank you note
was read by Canadian Jesuit
Missions in regards to the
bingo money we sent to Bros.
Bob Mittleholtz, which will go
to collect toys and gifts for the
children's aid for Christmas
presents. Ten. dollars each
was sent to Cystic Fibrosis
and Huron Day Care Centre.
The C.W.L. will send $800.00 to
Peru from the bake sale and
bazaar as Sister. Loretta is
there now. The executive will
look into having a Parish
Dance before Lent.
Congratulations to Dave
and Elaine Clarke on the ar-
rival of their second son.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Denomme visited last
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Love, attended the 50th
wedding anniversay on Sun-
day November 14 of their
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Morris Denomme,
and spent a few days this past
week with the Morris
Denomme's.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Marier,
Deane and Francine, Mr. and
Mrs. Mike Menard, all from
Windsor and Mr. George
Belanger from Oakville all at-
tended the 50th anniversary.
November 14 of their aunt and
uncle Maurice and Florence
Denomme.
Rev. Mr. Gary Ducharme
was ordained to the Order of
the Deaconate at St. Peter's
Church, St. Joseph, Ontario
on Friday, November 19. Or-
daining bishop was The Most
Reverend John M. Sherlock,
Bishop of London assisted by
Rev. John Bensette and 15
visiting priests. After the
ceremony a short informal
reception was held in the
parish hall. Deacon Gary is
the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Gerard Ducharme and is
presently doing pastoral work
at St. Pius X Church in Lon-
don. On Sunday he was
honoured to do his first Bap-
tism for his new little cousin,
Ryan William Wilson, son of
Bill and Dianne Wilson.
Lutheran Church Women
Mrs. Edith Yungblut and
Mrs. Margaret Kalbfleisch
were committee -in -charge
of the November meeting of
Lutheran Church Women.
The Youth group of the
Church and their leader Mrs.
Gwen O'Rourke told of their
experiences at the Youth Con-
ference in Vancouver in July.
Peter Miller, Shelley Haggitt,
Lori Turkheim, Karen Stein
back, Susan Deichert and
Martha Klopp each picked
one day of the Conference and
told members the activities of
that day.
There were 1,265 delegates
at the Conference from all
across Canada. Gwen
O'Rourke summarized their
activities and told of the part
they as leaders played.
Pastor Jack and Eileen,
Bonnie Keller and Ruth !m-
anse also accompanied the
group as leaders.
The Conference will be held
in St. Catharines next
summer.
The president, Marg
Deichert, presided for a short
business meeting. Members
are asked to bring their dona-
tions for the Huron County
Social Services (Children's
Aid) to the Church by
December 14.
Lenora Turkheim, Freida
Moore and Edith Hohner
were named to act on the
nominating committee. Vera
Haberer, Dot Hess and Marge
Schilbe were named auditors
for 1982.
