Lambton-Middlesex MP Ralph Ferguson made the an- nouncement Monday. Improvements in docking (probably floating docks) and landscaping and finishing to the Grand .send harbour building will be financed to the tune of $11,000. The Lamb - ton Heritage Museum, in - eluding the Oil museum of Canada will receive over $22,000. Picnic areas and ball diamonds will be built in the Port Franks area as a result of a $10,500 grant to Bosan- quet Township. Other money will be spent in West Williams for the completing of a ptun- phouse and clean-up after the installation of water mains. Ferguson said he had gone after more of the budgeted winter -works funds this year and made municipalities and area groups aware that the funds were available. "1 like to look at it that it's money well spent in perma- nent Improvements for com- munities rather than paying it out in umemployment benefits. Because of the higher number of unemployed, communities had welfare burdens and could steer these persons to work projects," he said. Ferguson said that there were "Quite a nuthber of tenders submitted for the Gond Bend Harbour building with quite'a range icj price." He said the tenders were in the process of being checked by Works Canada and Small Crafts! Harbours. He an- ticipates that a tender will be awarded within a week's time. Prout continued, "Included in this budget figure was more than $126,000 for job creation projects in co- operation with a number of government bodies. The authority also agreed to ask the Ministry of Natural Resources for approval to begin plans for erosion con- trol in a sand duhe area upriver from the village. Prout said this area was pinpointed in last year's floodplain management study as one of the major .con- tributors to silt buildup in the river mouth.
