Strange way of communicating
lan't it strange how people
have developed a language
within a language? We can
say exactly what we mean
without saying exactly what
we mean. All we need is a few
well-worn phrases.
For example, I don't want
to be a gossip monger, but you
know so and so. Well, all I can
say is when the cat's away the
mice will play. If you get the
picture.
Oh, that's no news. It's as
plain as the nose on your face.
•There's been hanky panky go-
ing on there for a long time.
Youcotildhaveknocked me
over with a feather when I
first got wind of it, though.
yea, you just never know you.
about people, do ya? Sure thing. Take your time.
A conversation may not say a do any I did. There's no rush. It'll come to
you in due course.
Remember, patience is a
virtue.
Easy for you to say.
Don't let it get to you.
Parting is such sweet sor-
row, but we have coined
dozen of ways to say good
bye.
Bye Bye. Bye for now. Bye
Now. I'll be seeing you. So
long for now. So long. Til next
time.
Gotta run. I shall return.
Catch ya next time. Take care
See you later alligator;
after awhile crocodile. See
you in the movies. Don't do.
anything I wouldn't do. I hate
to see you go.
Later. Back in a moment.
That's all for now. Been nice
chatting with you. It's that
time. The old clock on the
wall says it's time to go.
I'm cuttin' outa here. Got-
ta split. See you around. It's
been fun. Have a nice day.
You'all come back now.

Ain't it the truth. How are
the kids?
Growin' like weeds. Can't
keep up with them.
Yea, kids are like that. I
wish I had half their energy.
Nice weather we're having
isn't it?
Couldn't ask for any better.
Well,I gotta run. It's been
great talking to•you.
Sure has. We'll have to do it
again real soon. Take care
now.
We may have an extreme-
ly important message to
share with someone, but for
the life of us, we can't
remember what it was. We
stutter and stammer; we fuss
and fume. But we'll never be
lost for words.
A bought just popped into
my head. It's on the tip of my
tongue, but I can't spit it out.
I know what you mean. It
happens to me all the time.
Doesn't it just' drive you
bananas?
Oh, it drives me crazy. I
know what it is I just can't put
my finger on it. I could give
you an educated guess. Tell
you what. You just leave It
