Close to 300 area residents aive
Another very successful
Red Cross Blood Donor clinic
is over and 284 prospective
donors took time to roll up
their sleeves and help fight to
save lives.
With 40 deferrals a total of
244 pints of blood were
donated. This has been the
best clinic yet and the
Nomads Camping Club are
hoping with the continued
help of the Exeter Lions Club
and the donors that 1983 will

Clare Dunlop and Austin
Hobbs.

A speedy recovery is wish-
ed for Mr. Elmer Harlton who
is recovering from surgery at
the University Hospital

Mr. and Mrs. John Forrest
have returned home after
spending Thanksgiving at
their cottage .north of
Huntsville.

prayer at St. Thomas
Anglican Church.

The Oct. general meeting of
the UCW was. held in the
church basement on Oct. 12.
Mrs. Leroy Bryan president
and opened with a reading in
keeping with a Thanksgiving
theme. A number of items of
business were discussed and
taken care of. Reports were
given by the different
committees,
Mrs. Elwyn Bryan delegate
to the Alma College leader-
ship school, brought back an
interesting and informative
report.
Unit 4 was responsible for
the program with a
Thanksgiving . theme. Mrs.
Glary Humphrey presided and
presented a tableau on the
"Blessings of Thanksgiv-
ing". A table decoratedowith
fruits and vegetables of the
harvest was at the front of the
hall. The story of the origin of
Thanksgiving started by the
pilgrim fathers was read by
Mrs. Humphrey, and four
members of Unit 4 carried
cards with the words on them
for the blessings we should be
thankful for 1. Material bless-
ing, 2. Freedom, 3. Co-
operation with God and 4.
Unselfish concern for others.
Mrs. Norman Riddell gave a
reading entitled "Each Day
Rejoicing".
The program concluded
with a film on prominent
women noted for their service
to the church through the
years.
C.G.1.T., Explorer news
Jennie Anderson opened the
C.G.I.T. meeting on Oct. 13
with a all to worship follow-
ed by the purpose. For the roll
call each girl gave her ex-
planation to the statement
"you don't make any foot-
prints in the sands of time,
while you are sitting down".
It was decided to hold a fami-
ly dance at the Mason's Hall
on Nov. 12.

clesiastes 9:10 and on the
cliche "If a thing is worth do-
ing, it is worth doing right.

celebrate Thanksgiving".

Happy Gang resumes
The Granton Happy Gang
met in the United Church
basement on Wed. afternoon.
with Mrs. • James Kerr
presiding and opening the
meeting with two hymns. This
was followed by Mrs. Kerr
reading the story of the
"Pilgrim Fathers" and tak-
ing care of the business. It
was deatded to ask Unit 3
UCW to cater for the
4, Christmas dinner again.

quested the members to
be better still.
