Greonwoy The Thanksgiving Ecumenical meeting was held at Greenway United Church Tuesday evening. Guests were welcomed at the door by Inez Woodburn and Lillian Ullens and Edelyn Curts played sacred organ music. Isobel Bullock thanked everyone for coming and read a Thanksgiving poem. A reading on Thanksgiving Customs Around the world was read by a member of the United Church at Grand Bend. Mrs. McGregor from the Church of God read two poems "Autumn Outing" and "Reasons for Thanksgiving. One of the Dashwood ladies gave a reading on Thankfulness" and Roberta Walker from the Grand Bend Catholic church accompanied by Mrs. Campbell, Church of God sang two sacred numbers. The offering from the meeting will be sent to Arc In- dustries. The hymn "Sing to the Lord of Harvest" was sung and Bob Heywood then played several musical selec- tions on his accordion and sang. He spoke to us telling us how important it is to have peace with everyone and especially God. Rev. Moore closed the meeting with prayer and a tasty lunch was served in the Sunday School Rooms of the Church by Iva Lagerwerf and her group. A time of fellowship followed. Personals ' David Lovie was injured when a car he was driving struck a bridge near Alex Turnbull's gate. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital. Grant Hayter, son of Mr: and Mrs. Allan Hayter won the overall championship recently in the Huron -Bruce 4-H beef show and sale with his calf. Congratulations Grant! The 107th anniversary ser- vices were held in the United Church Sunday with Evelyn Curls at the organ and Ruby Isaac as leader of the choir. Both junior .and senior choirs joioned forthe day. In the morning service Rev. Ray Lindsay, Parkhill was the speaker: He spoke on "Strategy for Survival. The choir anthem was "To God Be the Glory" and guest soloist was Mr. Wilfred Mur- ray of Strathroy who sang two solos: "How Great Thou Art' and "His Eye is on the Sparrow". In the evening service Rev. Dr. George Goth was guest speaker and his topic was "You Can Go Home Again". The choir anthem was "Walk- ing in the Light" and Douglas Woodburn'wh4 is a member of the Junior Choir played his guitar and sang two selections. Both servir'es were well at- tended the church was beautifully decorated with fruit, vegetables and flowers for this special day in the life of the church. Sunday, October 31, a special feature in our Sunday Service will be the dedication of a Wall Cross in memory of Lloyd and Bea Brophy. T -A photo McGillivray to purchase former highway property McGillivray Council, at their October meeting passed a bylaw to purchase the former Parkhill Patrol Yard (Dept. of Highways) for a price of $12,000.00. Ap- plication has been made to Wintario for a grant, and an application will be made for a Community Centres grant. These grants will equal 50% of the purchase price. Mrs. Ross Love was at Lambton County Museum Sunday where she completed another interesting year as a volunteer. She played the 94 -year-old organ in the Mary Ellen chapel. The organ has many sentimental remem- brances for Dashwood area residents. It was purchased in 1888 from the Bell Organ Company in Guelph by Christopher Miller for his Personals wife.
