Centennials win
In the first game of the
round robin playoffs the
senior Exeter Centennial soc-
cer club played well in romp-
ing 6-1 over the Taxandria
Falcons.
The Centennials playSunday
in Sarnia and the following
Sunday in Taxandria.
The round robin is based on
three points for a win, two
points for a tie and a point for
each goal scored. The Centen-
nials finished the first
weekend with nine points.

Monday morning the high
school population was in-
troduced to the Idiotic Im-
pressions of South Huron, the
school newspaper. Co-editors
Cindy Down and Stuart
Hodgins felt it was received
well, having heard many good
comments.
The name change from
"The Overview" illustrates
the less serious image of this
year's paper. Album and
movie reviews, a president's
message, contests, sports and
surveys are part of the first
issue of the monthly
nodspaper. •
Students were' charged 10
,- cents for th¢i'six page typed
paper. Though newspaper
staff claims no literary talent
many poems and articles
were very funny.

four teams. Sarnia Italia and
Sarnia Bluewater were tied
for first, each with 26 points
and Bluewater was awarded
first due to more goals for.
Exeter was third with 24 -
points and Taxandria fourth
with 23 points.
In the game Sunday which
was played in Nairn, Dick
Lord scored the first goal set
up by the three -Johns;
Flanagan, Van Esbroeck and
Muller.,
Minutes later Taxandria
tied it at one. Robert Weer-
sink scored the next and even-
tual game winner set up nice-
ly in front of the net by left
winger Shawn Rotteau. The
first half ended with Exeter
ahead 2-1.
Paul Vandewalle went to
work in the secondhalf by
scoring three straight goals
with John Flanagan, Dick
Lord and John Muller picking
up assists, Shawn Rotteau
scored the last goal set up by
Dick Lord.
The defense of Joe Laurie,
Pete Czypyha, John
Rosenberg and goalkeeper
Blair Burbidge were at their
best never letting Taxandria
get a good chance at scoring.

The South Huron District
High School senior Panthers
won their second straight
game of the new season
Thursday by a 19-0 score over
Listowel while the juniors
were - defeated 13-6 by
Listowel.
In play this week, the junior
P4nthers were at home to
Stfatford Central yesterday, p.m.
Tuesday and the two SH Chris Van Gerwen led the
senior Panthers to their vic-
torybycollecting 13 points.
He opened the scoring in the
first notching a
touchdown from the one yard
line and kicked the convert to
make it 7-0.
Van Gerwen's foot added
four more points to the South
Huron total in the second
quarter with a 45 yard single

basketball team proved their
ability by winning the
weekend tournament hosted
by Wingham.
They defeated last year's
champions from
Amherstburg, 34-27 in the
final. For the past two years
General Amherst had ousted
South Huron in the
Semi-final. .
VISIT WATERLOO
Thirty grade thirteen
students from South Huron at-
tended university classes at
Waterloo University Wednes-
day. Mr. Wareham,
chemistry teacher at the high
school, thought it was a wor-
thwhile day. Students attend-
ed labs and lectures mostly in •
first year sciences.
Actual participation in the
lab gave the students an idea
of what will be expected of
them next year.
The group also had time to
tour around the campus and
inquire into other aspects of
university life. Organizer of
the trip,- Mr. Wareham plans
to continue this annual trip to
Waterloo if there is a *demand.

disposed of Stratford Nor-
thwestern 36-22 en route to the
championship.

Molting Hawks lose
first oldtimers tilt
The Exeter Molting Hawks
made their first start in the
Western Ontario division of
the Canadian Old Timers
Hockey Association Monday
night as they dropped a 4-3
decision to the Zurich Has
Beans.
Glenn Thurman was the top
marksman for the Has Beans
with a two goal performance

first Exeter goal on a pass
