a foreign country, he is sent
to assemble the equipment
and train 'the purchasers in
its use.
One year ago he was in
Peru.
Sunday evening June 13, to
a group of interested people
n the United Church he
encountered his adventures
in that land.
By means of slides and
maps, he explained the
geography of that country
ranging from desert in the
West, to rugged Andian
mountains on the east.
Peru is the site of the
source of the Amazon. It is
surprising to learn that
ocean freighters can reach
eastern Peru. by means of
that river.
In a land of valcanos, one
gets accustomed to mild
earthquake tremors. Llamas
re good pack animals and

al On Monday, June 21, the
grades 7 and 8 students from

boarded a bu,s for Camp
f Sylvan. The bus stopped at
e Rock Glen where the students

t• ing the rock formations and
, looking for fossils. Some of
the fossils found were
Brachiopods and
of Heliophyllum Haiti. After the
d tour the students boarded the
e bus and road to the Sunoco
th Station in Sylvan, where they
unloaded their gear and hik-
2 ed into the camp.
n Chuckwagons were their
homes for the next three
days. ' Many programmes
were planned throughout the
day for the students to learn
more about the out-of-doors
life. An interesting program
• was lead by Jay Campbell, of
C.F.P.L. who informed us of
why we were having such
poor weather. Others were
astronomy, forestry,
orienteering and animal
survival.

crowd in attendance.
