Baseball games will con- tinue all day from 12 noon to 10 p.m. both for the young and the old. A pork barbecue supper will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. at $6.00 for adults and $4.00 children. Let's just hope It will be a nice sunny day. Summer playground Any children from the ages of five to twelve who want to go to playground this summer are to register on Thursday, July 15th at the Zurich Community Centre from 1 to 3 in the afternoon or 7 to gat night. The cost Is 815 per child. This year's playground leaders will be Carolyn Regier and Kathy Love' Personals There have sure been a lot of deaths in the past week. On behalf of everyone I would like to extend a sin- cere sympathy to Bob Dietrich, Zurich and his family at the loss of his father Leonard Dietrich of RR 3 Dashwood. He passed away due to a terrible ac- cident last Sunday. Sympathy also to the also to the family of the late Leonard Debus who passed away on Wednesday and was buried on Saturday morning. Sympathy is also extended to the relatives of Peter Denomme who died sud- denly in London last Thur- sday where he was living. But was a native of Zurich. (He is the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Denom- me,)Correction from last week: The St. Peter's Lutheran youth tea and bake sale will be held this Saturday, July 3. (not 30th) as stated in last week's paper. It will be held from 10 to 2 p.m. at Gascho's Store on Main Street. A bridal shower was held • for Carolyn Miller on Sunday at the Miller residence. It was given by attendants, Tammy Witherspoon and Donna Miller. Carolyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller, RR 1, Dashwood. Any CWL members in- terested in going on a bus trip to St. Marys to bur Lady of the Rosary Shrine on Tuesday, July 13 are to phone Cecilia Meidinger at 236-4193 or myself at 236.4702 for a seat at 83.50 each. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from St. Boniface Church and be back home around 3 o'clock or so. Ladies are to bring their own lunch. Mrs. Carol Deitz, daughter Kerry -Lynn and Mother Mrs. Connie Lewis returned home last Tuesday after a very enjoyable three week trip to England. It is in- teresting to note that their plane landed at the airport only Vs hour before the Pope arrived on June 1st. The highlight of their. trip was going to Windsor Castle and seeing the whole Royal Family even "Princess Diana" just a week before her baby was born!.! Also while there Carol attended her 25th nurses graduation reunion in Cardiff Wales and visited with several friends and some relatives. Congratulations to Eugene and Shirley O'Brien who celebrated their (silver) 25th wedding anniversary on Saturday with a dinner at the township hall followed by a family get-together along with some friends at their h Larry Denomme, Dennis Regier, Joe Durand, Terry Rau and Peter Regier all left on Friday for their annual four day fishing trip to Northern Ontario near Powossan and hope to catch a lot of perch and pickerel. Mrs. Roberta Robertson arrived at St. Joseph from c Vancouver for a visit with her parents and family, Mr. and Mrs. JIm Hogg. Roberta was recently married in Vancouver, and was honoured at a shower here at the home of Mrs. Betty Oke last Monday. Twenty-five grade eight pupils graduated from St. Boniface School on Thursday evening. Following a mass for them a reception and lunch was held in the gym. The CWL presented each one with a Rosary and an award by the Knights of Columbus for the most improved students went to Sheila Regier and Steve Watson. The Zurich Public School held their graduation ceremony on Tuesday evening with a dinner for the twenty three grade eight students. Several from town spent the weekend in Kitchener at a Transdenominational Jesus event "Jesus 82" which was held at Bingeman Park. A total of 8921.70 was ollected for the flowers of Hope Campaign which was Times -Advocate, June 30,1982 ST. Plan Vanastra playground By Mary Chessell Varna A playground programme will be held again this summer for elementary school age children at Varna ball park under the direction of the Vanastra Recreation Centre. It will be on Thursday from 9:30 to 4:30, and runs from July 8 to August 26 with games, crafts, sing songs, story telling, drama and special events beginning • with a trip to Ontario Place on July 7. The cost of this excellent programme is only 87 per child or 815 per family. Playground supervisors are Christine Carter, Julie Townsend and Susan McLean. In addition to this, there is a Tiny Tots Summer Fun programme for children ages 2 to 5 on Tuesday and Friday mornings at the Vanastra Recreation Centre from 9 to 11:30, beginning on July 6. Cost is also 87.00 per child. You may register your children for these programmes at the Vanastra Recreation Centre this Friday, July 2 or phone 482- 3544. Barry Taylor won the most valuable player trophy in the Clinton Men's Fastball tournament on the weekend, pitching for the Zurich D.J.'s. Only . one run was scored against him in four games. The Stanley Steamers won the "A" division in the three-day Slo-Pitch tour- nament in Londesboro on the weekend, defeating the Lakers on Friday night, Dungannon on Saturday and Winthrop on Sunday. Personals Wilfred Chuter hosted a family gathering on Sunday which included his brothers and sisters and their families, with fifty in at- tendance. Charles and Bernice Reid, and Charlene and Meggin Reid attended the Blake reunion at Bill and Maxine Seer's cottage near Ball's Bridge on Sunday. There were 45 in attendance. Bride -elect Marianne Kalbfleisch of Sudbury was presented with many lovely gifts at a community shower in the Varna hall on Satur- day afternoon. Julie Webster and Lori Consitt entertained with piano solos, and Sandra and Janice Webster conducted a contest "Say It With Candy", won by Rev. Wilena Brown.
