UCW holds euchre,
bake sale

A capacity crowd
gathered at the township hall
on Wednesday afternoon for
the UCW's dessert euchre
and bake sale. Prizes for
cards were won by Anna
Wilson high, and Daphne
Johnston - low. Jean Hen-
derson won the lone hand
prize.

The UCW's annual plant
sale is next Thursday at the
May meeting. It always
features a wide variety of
indoor and outdoor plants,
and everyone is welcome to
attend. Time of the meeting
is 8:30.

A concert of sacredmusic will be presented in the Zurich Mennonite
Church on April 30, 8 p.m. by the Emmanuel Chorale of Kitchener. This
33 -voice choir are students from Emmanuel Bible College under the direc-
tion of Miss Tryntje Huisman, B.S.M.
Members of the Chorale come from many parts of Ontario as well as
from Quebec and the Maritimes.
Bible colleges dre post secondary institutions of whose educational ob-
jectives are the study of God's Word, training in effective communication
of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the development of Christian maturity
and spiritual life.
Over 85% of the degree graduodtes of Emmanuel Bible College enter
full time Christian Service vocations for which they hove been trained.
Forty-six students from Emmanuel received theological degrees and
diplomas in a commencement ceremony conducted on April 24 in
Kitchener.

Cubs plan bottle drive, Saturday
St. Boniface CWL elects biennial officers
A delicious turkey dinner
with all the trimmings was
enjoyed by 66 ladies of St.
Boniface CWL along with
pastor Fr. Mooney at the
Dominion Hotel last Tuesday
evening.
It was preceded by Mass
for vocations at 6:30 p.m.
and the installation of of-
ficers for the next two year
term.
They are: past president,
Coby, Vanden Boomen;
president, Cecilia Smith;
first vice, Martha Overholt;
2nd vice, Mary Jacobs; 3rd
vice, Bridget Groot;
recording secretary, Carmel
Sweeney; corresponding,
secretary, Wendy Masse;
and treasurer, Cecilia
Farwell.
Two delegates will attend
the convention in London on
May 11 and 12.
Door prizes were won by
Maddy Smith, Madeline
Gelinas, Pearl Miller and
Agnes Regier, which were,
lovely flowering plants. The
meeting concluded with a
sing song led by Mary Regier
and Julie Dlebus on the piano:
Full house for
sauerkraut
Approximately 400 people
enjoyed a delicious meal of
spare ribs (either choice of
plain or barbecued) with
sauerkraut, Wednesday at
the arena. Everything was
well organized, and the
Chamber members and their
wives are to - be
congratulated and job well
done.
Plan bottle ddr(ive
On Saturday (Kay 1) the
cubs will be holding a bottle
drive (fund raising event)
from 9:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon
in the Zurich, St. Joseph and
Bayview area.
The boys will go door to
door, so any unwanted
returnable empties (either
pop or beer bottles) will be
appreciated as well as your
support.
Rec league not
Buckeyes
"Sorry" I goofed last
week. My column said the
Buckeyes team held their
dinner at the hotel last
Saturday, but instead it
should have said the rec
league.
Annual bakesale
The ladies auxiliary of the
Blue Water Rest home is
holding a Mother's Day and
May Tea, bake sale, with
plant table, also a draw on a
fancy decorated cake on
Saturday, May 8th from 2-4
p.m. at the home. Do mark
your calendars and plan to
attend!

All parents are en-
couraged to pay a visit to the
schools this week to view
their children's work and
take part in the activities
planned for "Education
Week."

3 month holiday with his

Exeter area.
Earl and Anne Flaxbard
spent from Wednesday to
Saturday with their
daughter-in-law, Cathy
Flaxbard and two children in
London while son Paul is
away taking a course "in
Washington D.C. They were
in Kitchener on Sunday
helping celebrate the fourth
birthday of grandson,
Geoffrey Flaxbard son of
Gary and Bette, (which Anne
made a decorated Bert and
Ernie Cake for him.)
Doug and Joyce Arm-
strong .of Peterborough
(formerly Zurich) spent the
previous weekend in Zurich
visiting relatives and at-
tending the wedding
reception of nephew Donald
Fisher in Dashwood.

arrival of their first baby, a
girl, "Katie Marie" who was
born on Wednesday, April 21
at St. Joseph's hospital.
