Plan five plays for '82 season
Five plays, inclu 'ng the
world-famous Agatha
Christie mystery
melodrama The Mousetrap,
will be presented during the
Huron Country Playhouse's
llth season running from
June 29 to September 11.
Aileen Taylor -Smith, who
is now in her third and final
season, announced the
schedule for the upcoming
summer Monday afternoon
at Sanders Tavern. The
plays will be The Mousetrap,
I Ought To Be In Pictures,
The Fourposter, Butterflies
are Free, and Oliver.
The Mousetrap, which
opens the season, is the
longest -running play in
English drama, now in its
30th season in London,
England, and its fourth year
at the Toronto Truck
Theatre.
The next play is the
playhouse's first production
of Neil Simon's recent hit, I
Ought To Be In Pictures, a
story about a young woman
who locates her wandering
father after missing him for
many years. She wants him
to place her in the' movie
business, but his work as a
screenwriter has been
meager lately.
Beginning July 27, Jan de
Hartog's The . Fourposter
will be put on. It retells the
history of a devout married
couple and their stalwart
fourposter bed, and all the
important events in their lite
together. Taylor -Smith will
direct this one herself.
Butterflies are Free.

which opens August 10, is
about a young blind man who
tries to escape, the influence
of his over protective
mother and discover
himself..Written by Leonard
Gershe, who based this
touching comedy on the real-
life story of Harold Krents, it
will be directed' by John
Kozak, a familiar face from
the Wayne andShustershow.
Oliver, the musical adap-
tation of Charles Dickens'
Oliver Twist, begins August
24. It tells the story ofa boy
forced by poverty into crime
in Victorian England, whose
values and myths Dickens
knew so well. Taylor -Smith
said arrangements have
been made with a London
choirmaster to bring in a
child troupe to assist with
the choral singing. Alan
Lund will direct it.
For the first time in its 10 -
year history, the playhouse
will support the actor's
benevolent fund with an ex-
tra performance of Oliver
for which the cast has
agreed to work without pay.
The fund is for struggling ac-
tors needing financial
'assistance.
The Young Players Com-
pany will be operated again
for two weeks beginning
July 19. They will perform
two cabaret shows after
mainstage productions on
Tuesdays, Fridays and
Saturdays. The first play,
Noel at Sea, will open July
13, and the second, Let's Fall
in Love, will begin August 6.
