It was a happy meeting on
Thursday, February 11 for
the members of the Dash-
wood and Area Medical
committee. Word had been
received from Dr. G.
Woodfine of Ueachburg,
Ontario that he will be
coming to Dashwood to
occupy 'the new Medical
Centre in April.
The treasurer's report was
read and the goal of $65.000
has been reached. Due to
inflation, the committee will
be grateful for any further
donations to help with the
completion .of the Medical
Centre. All donors names
will be displayed in a picture
framed case inside the
Medical Centre.

There are just two groups
now and a contest for new
members is on. The Altar
Guild for December reported
33 visits, 7 phone calls and 4
cards sent; for January the
Altar Guild reported 27 visits
and 15 treats. The new Guild
is Mrs. Earl Keller and Mrs.
Ray Rader. Several cards of
thanks and donations were
received. The. next meeting
will be held Wednesday
afternoon, March 10.
The meeting of Calvary
Dashwood 4-11 Club 2 held
the first meeting in 1982 for
the club 'Bread Winners"
with the leaders Mrs. Ray
Rader and Mrs. Earl Keller
and eleven girls. There is one
new member, Janice
Schade. Officers elected are:
president, Irene Dietrich;
vice-president, Susanne
Smith; secretary, Alice
Dietrich; treasurer, Sandra
Datars; press reporter,
Karen Keller.
The leaders handed out
pamphlets for the girls
records. They also told the
Church United Women was girls what was expected of

A devastating fire took the
barn, house and contents of
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Denys who
live a mile and a half east of
Kippen, Wednesday.

The Kippen U.C.W. met

Topic for the meeting was
a discussion of a social issue:
land ecology led by Mrs.
David Cooper. A film strip en-
titled, "Food, Farming and
our Future" also illustrated
the topic.
Business was conducted by
president Mrs. David Turner.

school teacher. Report of
Huron Perth Presbyterian
held in Hensall February 8
was given by' Mrs. Robert
Kinsman.
Plans were made for
church service being taken by
U.C.W. February 28.

support Canadian In-
dustries? was answered by
13 members.
Mrs. Groenewegen, con-
vener
of Agriculture and
Canadian Industries, in-
troduced the guest speaker,
Dianne O'Shea, from Gran-
ton, who spoke on the apple
industry.
She said that February.
hax been designated apple
month and talked about con-
sumer education' and the
promotion of apples.
Dianne, who is a graduate
of Centralia College, told
how she worked each
weekend during the apple
harvest in the fall, at Great
Lakes Farms, near Port
Stanley, helping to promote,
apples.
She said, that other things
of interest during the apple
harvest at Great Lakes
Farms were apple pie mak-
ing demonstrations as well
as the making of apple head
dolls, cideraking, also a
bake shop from which pies,
cider, etc. can be purchas-
ed. Horse drawn wagons are
available for rides through
the orchards.
Dianne demonstrated the
making of apple strudel also
a colorful fruit salad, which
included apples all of this
being served and enjoyed by
the ladies for lunch. Gladys
Cunningham thanked
Dianne for the most in-
teresting talk and
demonstration.
Velma Hardy gave a
report of the district rec-
tors meeting held at Gran-
ton, Monday. She reported
the district annual to be held
May 20 in Ilderton. A quilt
block, any pattern , 11x11
inches to be made by each
branch and sent to the
Erland Lee Home via Mrs.
Mollard of Parkhill.
An invitation to visit
Cloverdale W.I. in Parkhill
February 24 was read and
accepted.
Jean Hodgins reported on
the County W.I. bus trip to
the flower show in Toronto,
April 22. There are now four
buses going from the coun-
ty, as the interest is really
great.
The Middlesex County
W.I. cook books were
distributed to members that
were present. Clandeboye
W.I. agreed to sell 100 books
so anyone wishing them,
call any Clandeboye W.I.
member. The cost per book
is $1.50 and will be available
until after the International
Plowing Match.
Clandeboye Women's In-
stitute will celebrate their
75th anniversary this year
so a committee was assign-
ed to plan this special event.
The committee is Velma
Hardy, Hazel Williams,
Marion Hodgson, and Betty
Coughlin.
