Report Separate school duo accept pay offers
To the Editor: .
Re: Our letter to the
Editor dated Feb. 2, 1982.
To Our Fellow Ratepayers
Huron -Perth Separate
School Board.
We were advised on Feb.
10, 1982 by Representatives.
of the Huron -Perth Separate
school Board that the Direc-
tor and the Superintendent
of Education have re-
considered and agreed to
accept the board's original
offers of $49,500 for the
Director and 844,000.00 for
the Superintendent. This
decision was made at a
board committee meeting
held on Feb. 10.
We received hundreds of
phone calls and several
petitions in support of our
views. .We would like to
thank you for the tremen-
dous support, it came from
all corners of the system and
the outlying area.
A special thanks to our
friends from the Public
School System who called to
lend their support.
We intend to keep our
Committee intact and would
welcome your inquiries or
suggestions at the following
telephone number. Area 519-
345-2562.
Signed: Concerned.

Letter to the editor:
We are writing in response
to the criticism of our es-
tablishment in Feb. 10th
issue of the Times -Advocate.
The published facts were
.not correct, and just for the
record we would like to
clarify • the facts.
On this date of Jan. 24,
people from Kincardine
came in about 4:30 p.m.
because of the storm, they
had coffee to wait out the
storm. Because of no staff
we decided
to close at 6:30
p.m. The People were NOT
asked to leave the
restaurant, and furthermore
our waitress told them they
could go to the Legion, or to
either of our local Police
Departments for assistance.
In thelfast 2 years we have
done our best to be of service
to this town and its' surroun-
ding communities: Anyone
who is in business will un-
derstand, that you cannot
please everyone all thetime.
But there is no way that we
or our staff would ever turn
away anyone in need of
assistance.
SIncerely,
Burkley Restaurant

Letter to the Editor:
I read 4n your newspa r
this morning (Feb. 10
edition) ' about the couple
frpm Kincardine who were
caught in the snow storm in
your town. My husband and I
and our two children were
also stranded In Exeter;
after visiting our son who
was a patient in University
Hospital, London.
We also stopped at the
Burkley Restaurant and
Tavern at 6:20 p.m. for our
supper (not intending to
stay). The owner had the key
in the door; letting
customers out; but turning
others and ourselves away.
We also run a business in
the country and have often
-fed people and put them up
for the night during a storm.
We also, as the people from
Kincardine, will not bother
the owner for a meal in his
restaurant again.
We, as the Owen's men-
tioned in their letter, agree
Exeter does have some very
hospitable people. Special
thanks to the Exeter Detach-
ment of thyO.P.P. awl the
Town Police.
•
When we drive through
Exeter, as we often do, we
Page 8
will stop at the Kentucky
Chicken, for they fed us our
supper "free of charge."
1 intended to write this
letter sooner - Thanks for
giving me the opportunity to
get this off my chest.
Thanks again,
Karen Allen
