Cowgirlsplay
in snow tourney
By MRS. PETER MARTIN
CREDITON
The Crediton Cowgirls
played their first Snowball
Slow Pitch Tournament,
Saturday at Riirerside Public
School, London. The girls
1061 two games but came
back to win the last one.
Home runs were hit by
Barb Mitchell, Tammy
Regier and Tammy Bibby.
Over 100 teams participated
in the tournament.
The baseball was painted
fluorescent yellow. Even
with this advantage the ball
sometimes proved hard to
find in the snow. A home run
could be made with a two
foot hit and at times the
whole team could be seen out
on the field hunting for the
ball,
The girls had a lot of fun
and developed a few sore
muscles from this winter
experience.
Skating party
The Crediton Firemen had
a lovely day for their skating
party. Youngsters and those
i
not so young enjoyed the
afternoon of skating. games
and fun. Hot dogs and hot
chocolate were plentiful and
helped keep the cold brisk
air seem less sharp.
Winners of the contests
were as follows. Ages 3 and
under Terri Lynn Case, Lisa
Robertson, Candice Miller.
Ages 6-7-8, John Gollen,
Wanda McCann, Greg
Clarke. Ages 9-12 girls, Carol
Morrissey, Kathy Schenk,
Jean Klemke. Ages 9-10
boys; Bruce Papple, Dwayne
Hayter, Steve Pfaff.
Ages 11 and 12 boys,
Derrick McCann, Russell
Finkbeiner, Jim •Payne. 13
and over boys winning relay
team consisted of Liam.
Brennan, Ron Latky, Bill
Wilhelmson, Scott Miller,
and Jeff Slaght. 13 and over
girls winning relay team was
Heather Browning, Carolyn
Pritchard, Tammy O'Brien.
Didn't we have a lovely
weekend. For a change we
didn't have a storm and the
sun even shone down on the
skating party.
