$875 in grants
Stanley Township Council
'granted money to six county
groups at council's February
meeting.
The Huron County Federa-
tion of Agriculture will be
given 3400 and $100 each was
granted to. the National
Farmer's Union. the
• Bavfield agricultural society
and the Blyth centre for the
arts. The Huron Central
agricultural society will be
given 350 and the Huron
Country Playhouse was
granted $125.
Stanley council accepters
the 1982 budget of the Zurich
and area fire board. The
township's share is 12.213 for
the regular budget and 11.864
for the capital expense of
new radio equipment.
The township will also pay
3717 to the Clinton area fire
board This is an interim
payment of 50 percent of the
township's 1961 budget.
.A bylaw to collect an in-
terim tax levy was passed.
The bylaw will • allow the
township to collect an in-
terim tax payment: due
March 15. before the
township's 1982 - estimates
are adopted •
Council accepted an
application for a tile
drainage loan of $6,000.
Clerk Mel Graham said
the township will have a
carryover of about 150.000 in
tile drainage applications
from 1981.
Graham said the loans will
be taken out of the 1982
allocation. "unless we get
more." he added.
A tender forrepairs on the
Bean 'Municipal drain was
accepted. The tender from
Kelly Robinson, of Ailsa
Craig. was for 33.650.
The township's roads
superintendent ,William
' Taylor. was appointed as
Stanley's drainage
superintendent.
The township will be
applying to the Ministry of
Transport and .Communica-
tion for the balance of their
1981 road's subsidy.
Council will be sending
two representatives to the
Lake Huron Zone recreation
conference in Chesley.

It was held •at the Holiday
Inn. Then this past week
Hubert was away to Toronto
where he took in a farm show
at the exhibition grounds.

the weekend from a two
week Fettes circle tour trip
to Florida. They went to a
few places such as, St.
Petersburg, Orlando,
Tampa, Datona Beach and
St. Augustine.

going to be a snow pitch fun
tournament this Saturday,
February 13 by various
hockey team players at the
Zurich Community Centre
ball park all day starting at
10 a.m. with final game at 7
p.m..
Also free horse and cutter
rides in the afternoon and
free ice skating from 2:30 to
5:00 p.m. Refreshments and
food will be available in the
auditorium.
And at night there will be a
dance from 9-1:00 with music
of the 60's by a disc -jockey
for only' $2.00 each. So come
out and have a ball!
All proceeds will go
towards the Zurich Com-
munity
Centre.
Grounds hogs and
Valentines
Twenty six members
answered the roll call at the
auxiliary meeting at the rest
home last Tuesday (Ground
Hog Day). It began following
a musical program and
delicious lunch of assorted
doughnuts decorated for
Valentines.

The first meeting of the
Zurich 4-H club was held last
Tuesday at the Hay Town-
ship hall, and opened with
the 4-H pledge.

is "Bread Winters". Four of
the girls prepared dough for
pizza and whilewaiting for it
to rise, elections of officers
took place.
