Christmas peek
'By Kelly
McGillivray Central
I heard a rustle as I lay in
bed
Then I remembered what
my mothet had said
She said that Santa was com-
ing tonight
, She said she'd leave on the
Christmas light
So I tossed and turned and
decided to go
To look out the window and
check on the snow
As I opened the curtains way
up in the sky
A jolly old man I did spy
He waF headed this way so 1
ran for the door
I skipped down the stairs and
. slipped on the floor
To my suprise I saw old St.
N ick
1 knew for sure it wasn't a
trick
I piclled my self up and hid

HOW THE REINDEER
GOT HIS NAME
By Jahn Gallen

;Grade 3
Once there was a reindeer
who didn't have a name. He
wanted a name so Santa
gave him the name Blitzen.
Blitzen was pleased to have
such a nice name so he danc-
ed around the sled.
When Santa saw him he
said to Blitzen "I am going
to give you the name
Dancer." He liked that'
name better so he kept dan-
cing. He stopped dancing
and started prancing. When
Santa saw him prancing on
the snow he named him
SANTA CLAUS GETS Prancer.

I had been visiting in
Holland for almost a month.
1 had made a few friends
while 1 was there. We went
Christmas shopping
together. went to movies.
went out to eat. and a lot of
other things.
I had had a good time.in
Holland but when the day
came to go home I was glad
it had come. I was anxious to
get home to see all my
friends and relatives again.
I also wanted to give them
the souvenirs I had bought
for them. I had just got to
the airport and had sat down
when I heard my flight
number being called. I got
up to walk to where I got
onto the plane
I stopped dead in my
tracks when I heard the aw-
ful news of my plane being
cancelled. After waiting all
those days for this very day
ti3 come and then I wish I
hadn't.
I would be going home on
January 1 in the new year.

Just think 1 wouldn't even
get to spend Christmas with
my friends and relatives.
This was going to be the
worst ('hristmas.
1 went hack to the hotel
were I had been staying. I
was lucky I got the same
room. I went to tell my
friends the horrible news.
My friend told me that they
were going to make this
('hristmas the best yet.
I didn't know much about
Christmas in Holland. I was
expecting their Christmas to
be at feast the same date as
ours. December 6th came
and I had not even known
that it was the day that the
people of Holland celebrated
Christmas. 1 had got up that
morning and found a shoe on
the floor beside my bed. The
shoe was f illed'with fruit and
candy and a message that
said:
From Sinter Klass. Have a
Merry Christmas.
At first I thought it was all
a joke that someone had
played on me. I found out
later that Sinter Klass was
Holland's Santa Claus and
that they celebrate Christ-
mas on December 6th. The
Dutch' settlers brought the'
name Sinter Klass over to
America. They also have a
Black Peter as Sinter
Klass's' Moorish servant. I
had to get my friends their
presents. I rushed uptown. ?

sudden he started to sneeze
alot. Mrs. Claus said,
"Whats wrong Santa?". I
think I have a cold. Oh no
that means that you can't br-
ing all the toys to the girls
and boys." said Mrs. Claus.
Well then I guess I'll have
to do it for you. But there is
only one problem. What am I
going to wear?" You can
wear my clothes and stuff a
Couple of pillows up your
tummy! What am I going to
wear on my face? I have a

' I think thats good enough
now. said Santa. Hours went
by aqui finally it was 11:30.
Mrs. Claus got ready to go,
and carried the bag of toys
out on the sled. Up, up and
away she went.
She went to the 1st house,
2nd house. 3rd house until
she went to all 40 houses.
Then came back and told
Santa that she had
delivered all the toys and
that everyone had a Merry
Christmas.
