The choir sang two beautiful anthems, which expressed the theme of worship. through music. Mr. Lorne Thrower led the service and told a story to the children a story about the importance of the star and of bells at Christmas time. He was aided by using a visual effect of a star and bells, cut out of a sheet of paper. The scripture was taken from the Gospel of Luke, giving the account of the angel Gabriel coming to Mary and informing her that she was to be blessed with child. Mr. Thrower's message was entitled "Do you hear what I hear?" It centered around the fact that Advent is a time for preparation, and this was emphasized and parallel by the hustle and bustle that faces all of us trying to prepare for December 25. Mr. Thrower also told the story of the "Cobbler and His Guest," which dramatically portrayed the old cobbler as a man of Christian action, rather than one who only professed to be. The cobbler, befriended the needy while waiting for his guest to appear and was disappointed because the guest never showed- ups Finally, the cobbler was brought face to face with reality when he heard the words: "Anything you did for one of my brothers here, however humble, you did for me."
