ARC hosts senior's dinner

Dashwood senior citizens
held their Christmas
meeting Monday, December
14 at AI{Oindustries with 56
members and two guests
(Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stiles,
Goderich) sitting down to a
delicious turkey dinner
prepared and served by ARC
employees.

Saturday evening the
Crediton Firemen's Associa-
tion held their Christmas
banquet at the Community
Centre.
Peter Wuerth gave the
blessing. Rev. Brian Elder
spoke on What if' and closed
with the Firemen's Prayer."
Special 20 year service
plaques were presented to
Don Dinney and Charlie
Browning .Jr. Rookie of the
year award went to Bruce
Pfaff.
After the presentations
games were enjoyed. In
progressive Euchre,winners
were. ladies high Ina Brow-
ning. ladies low Anne Cottel.
mens high Robert Martin.
mens low .Jerry Gaiser.

Theresa Stewardson high
and Louise Wein low.
All the wives received a
carnation corsage as they
enter the hall.

Mrs. Hilda Rader's group
was in charge of the
program. Mrs. Erma
Krueger introduced Mr.
Stiles. Harry Hoffman led in
carol singing accompanied
on the piano by Mr. Stiles
who also played several
piano selections. Mrs. Pearl
Miller read a poem, "The
Exchange of Gifts". Santa
Claus arrived with gifts for
all. Ed Hendrick won a
poinsettia for the birthday
nearest. Mrs. Margaret
Clark and Edwin Miller also
won poinsettias. A good
meeting was brought to a
close with the singing of
Silent Night and Mr. Stiles at
the piano.

The Youth of Zion
Lutheran church met to
work on the Christmas
banner. They will also make
a second banner. Carolling
will be done December 23.
They now have a file cabinet.
The Catholic Women's
League of Mt. Carmel
purchased a hospital bed and
an over bed sized table with
Zehr's tapes which they
donated to T. Harry Hoffman

hospital, London, Saturday.
Dashwood Men's club held
the Christmas annual party
for the children Saturday,
December 19 at the com-
munity centre. Chris
Snedden, a magician, kept
the children enthralled by
his antics. A sing song of
Christmas carols followed
plus a film strip. Winners of
the draw were first, Mer-
ner's staff; 2nd, Kim Hoff-
man; 3rd, Margaret Furt-
ney.
Zion Lutheran ladies'
Aid packed 26 sick and shut-
in boxes Sunday afternoon
thanks to the generosity of
members of the
congregation. The Christ-
mas Eve service by the
Sunday School children will
be held at 7:30 p.m.

action is in store for hockey
fans over the New Year
holiday weekend, as the
Clinton Junior 'C' Mustangs
host their first annual
tournament.
Featuring eight Junior 'C'
teams from Southwestern
Ontario, the three day
tourney gets rolling early
New Years day, January 1,
and continues on Saturday,
January 2, with the semi-
finals and the finals set for
Sunday, January 3. The
winners will take home the
rich Labatt Awards.
Featured in the contests to
be played at the Clinton
arena are teams from
Wingham, Walkerton,
Tillsonburg, Alliston, Port
Elgin, Dundas, Kincardine,

joyed a dinner at the Lemon
Tree Restaurant. Thanks to
Mr. Lloyd Roth for the plea-
sant outing on Thursday last.
