Senior girls aim
at WOSSA crown
This Friday. the South
Huron senior girls' basket-
ball team will by trying to
realize the last of three goals
they set for themselves at
the beginning of the season,
when they face Sarnia Cen-
tral in the first round of the
WOSSA tournament at
Strathrov.
In order to reach their ob-
jective of playing in the
semi-finals. the Panthers
will have to avenge two
earlier losses to the Cen-
taurs.
"We're going to have to
take advantage of all of our
offensive opportunities if we
hope to beat them", said
coach Terry' O'Rourke at
this week's practice. In their
meeting. South Huron came
up with a cold hand and lost
42-28.
In their most recent en-
counter in the Tilisonburg
Classic. South Huron lost a
clost 43-37 decision in over-
time. •
Examinations this past
week have prevented the
whole team from making
practices. As well, South
Huron's two week layoff
since the Huron -Perth cham-
pionship. has O'Rourke
worried.
"The layoff will hurt us.
We're going to try and get a
couple of good practices just
before WOSSA" O'Rourke
said. South Huron's game
against Sarnia will go at 5:00
in the gymnasium at
Strathrov District High

We interviewed Susan
Ratz. Jeff Ratz and John
Gollen of Room 8 on Indian
sign language and here's
what we found out.
Each of the 30 Plains
tribes spoke a different
language In their frequent
meetings they had to find a
way of talking with one
another. The sign language
was the way they found. It is
a language not of letters but
of words and ideas. Some
people believe that the sign
language is as great an in-
vention as writing.- Heather
