Hickson and Deputy Chief John Riddell to assist him. These two gen- tlemen brought the new pumper truck and the members clambered over it, just like school kids, eagerly taking in all that Wes. and John had to tell them. It was most interesting, and members were invited to the firehall for further demonstrations at the later date. Mr. Steeper showed two excellent short films "Fires in My Kitchen" and "An Escape Route". The first giving. many examples of different types of kitchen fires and how to deal with them, the second pointed out that it was most essential to practice escape routes until even the smallest toddler knows what to do, par - WIN LUCAN REC TITLE — The Walloy-Hearn team won t left, Gerry Duskocy, Rick Freeman, Leroy Richards, Mike Roberts. The chimes played during the Organ Prelude, added much to that portion of the service, as did the choir number "Lead Me Lord", directed by the organist , Helen Stanley. Beth Cowdrey held the children enthralled with her delightful story prior to Junior Church, led by Barbara Coughlin. Rev. Keith Brown continuing his, series on the Beatitudes asked four questions - "What is apeacemaker? What does a peacemaker do? How does one become a peacemaker? What are the rewards of being a peacemaker?" However, space does not permit the answers to each question. Jesus used the Hebrew word for peace which means everything that makes for highest good for others, which promotes a love within us for those which it seems impossible to love. God want us to be peacemakers, bringing people to God as Jesus did but we must be right with God to be right with others and vice versa. The only qualification needed to be a "peacemaker" is to be a citizen of the Kingdom of God. Peacemakers come into the peace of God and surely this is reward enough, but Jesus says "they shall be called the children of God." God is waiting to give us His peace in our hearts and as in the children's story, all we have to do is ask. This evening, Wednesday the second Adult Church membership class will be held in the C.E. wing at 8 p.m. and tomorrow evening at R:15 the Couples Club meets when all couples of the Church are invited to share Patma, a teacher from Windsor, is bringing his illuminated talking chalk board to tell a Bible Story as he draws the picture. Hodgins Legion goes to Church The people of Holy Trinity were joined by the members and friends of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 540. The Legion joined in the service and took part in the 'worship. President, Kenneth Wood read the Old Testament lesson and the Secretary Comrade Sid Daley the New. The colours were marched on at the first of the service and were marched off at the conclusion after the National Anthem was sung. The Legion also assisted in the receiving of the gifts. Attending this service was also the female Barbershop singers called the "Good Vibrations" They provided very excellent musical selections to the great en- joyment and inspiration of the both the Legion and the congregation. The members of the group were as follows Julie Beadle (Lead), Mary DeGraw (Baritone) Loretta Dickson (Bass) and Beulah Hardy (Tenor). The Sunday School began its new season with a new curriculum. They are now using the "Joy series of the Bible and Christian Education studies. They look forward to a very exciting year and welcome any new children who might want to attend. The Rector's message was based upon two of the very famous and inspirational poems used by the Legion. The first was the "Recessional" by Rudyard Kipling and the second "In Flanders Fields" by Col John McCrae. The most important lines that come from "The Recessional" are "Lord God of our Fathers be with us yet lest we forget, lest we forget." The Legion has long used Anglican ladies meet The September meeting of the Holy Trinity Ladies' Guild was held on Tuesday evening, the 15th, in the Parish Hall. President, Muriel Culbert, opened the meeting with prayer and the Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. The main business con- cerned plans for the turkey supper which will be held October 28, from 5-8 p.m. in the lower church hall. Plans will be finalized at the October Guild meeting. this to remind Itself of its duty to remember. The rector who is the Legion's padre asked if this remembering was just of the men that gave their lives, or was the act of remembering to include the families and loved ones left behind as well. They were told that both were certainly part of the remembering, but he felt that perhaps there was yet even more to remember. He then asked them what was the true essence of the "torch" ' that was thrown to them in the lines of Col. McCrae who wrote "To you from failing hands, we throw* the torch;" The padre then suggested that the answer could be found in the next line of the poem. "If you break faith with us who die". The padre felt that this was the nature of the remem- bering that must be done. It was to keep the faith in God and his ways. It was to recognize that their comrades had died for freedom in a fight against oppression andtyranny. Both of these things come from the heart that has forgotten Enrolment up at Biddulph Registration at the Bid- dulph Lucan Schools is up 29 from the end of June with 80 students in kindergarten. It is then most im- portant that they do not "break faith" with those who paid' the price even as Christ paid the price on Calvary. ****************** 40(y T W.H.
