From - the Ontario Provincial Police, have a good safe holiday. Don't mix alcohol with driving and risk your life or someone elses. Watch out for the other guy. R.W. Wilson, Community Services Officer Dear Sir, I seem to have suddenly and inadvertently made the NEW ST. BONIFACE PASTOR - The Reverend P. F. Mooney is the new pastor for Sf. Boniface parish, Zurich. Reverend Mooney, a native of the Belle River area, comes to Zurich from Wind- sor where he was pastor at St. John Vionney. Previously Reverend Mooney has served the church in Bothwell, Sar- nia and Peru. Staff photo news • recently, and, have come in for sortie, perhaps justifiable, criticism in the editorial page of the T -A. I suppose that before all and sundry write me off as an irresponsible, loud -mouthed subversive, I ought to try tb slip in a tiny word in my defence. If the publishing profession can shrug off criticism with a simple "Oh well, that's the publishing game", I suppose that I also could respond, "Oh well, that's the teaching game". But somehow, that doesn't seem good enough. Being rather new at both "games", and unused to the attentions of reporters, .1 have found it' instructive to note how one can say all manner of reasonably in- telligent things to a reporter, but that the only thing that Woodham By MISS JEAN COPELAND Miss Rhea Mills attended a family gathering in London Friday evening and helped Mrs. Florence Trifts celebrate her birthday. Mr. & Mrs. David Wheeler and boys were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Don Axford and family, Mosley. A number of the United church Women called at life Wildwood Nursing Home on Thursday and visited and treated the residents. - will make it into print will be the silliest thing one has said. I made the remark about "going underground" with the books -issue originally as a kind of cyclical, throw- away remark after the Clinton meeting last year, at a time when I was rather depressed. The pronoun "they" in my remark was meant to refer, not to the Board of Education, but to those people who wished the removal of the books- the board had not even made its decision at that time. (Maclean's spoke with me last spring.) 1 was attempting, with a truly breathtaking lack of success, to point out the folly of confronting people on this issue. However, it was a jocular closing comment to a long telephone interview with Maclean's which has since returned to cause me some embarrassment. I usually try not to be quite so silly, at least in public. As I did say it, and to a member of the press, I guess I have to take my lumps; but I am dismayed at the size of your stick, Mr. Editor. The events of the last year have taught me that the press is generally the last place to expect a sym- pathetic interpretation.
