FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA The Thanksgiving service in the United Church Sunday morning was one of in- spiration in both message and music. "A- Sacrifice of Praise" was the subject" chosen by Mr. Paul Schott for his Thanksgiving sermon. He made reference to the early settlers who paved the way for the religious privileges enjoyed w today's society and pointed out that Sacrifice is not always "pleasant but must continue. Making the presentation at the left is Huron's director of FACS - John Penn. T-Aphoto Blair, Bob Heywood and Sam Skinner. Bob Heywood's amplifier equipment was,used for the number by the quartet with Mrs. Gill playing the piano' accompaniment. The offertory music was an organ and piano duet by Mr. Gill and Mary Lou Tasko. Mary Lou ac- companied Mr. Gill for the singing of the hymns. Autumn leaves, flowers, fruits and vegetables were arranged to make a colourful setting for the service. A special "thank you" to the committee in charge, their efforts were appreciated. TEMPLEMAN The fourth meeting of the Staffa Snackers was held September 22at the hone of the leader, Mrs. Joyce Vivian. - The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge, followed by the roll call answered by 13 members. The, assistant leader, Mrs. Doris Jeffery, demonstrated the .procedure used in making tea biscuits, the right way and the wrong way. . Later in the evening•these tea biscuits were judged by the girls as this is one of the tests for achievement' day. Shirley, • IVlilier showed everyone how to .make "Wheat germ biscuits," and Susan Harburn, demon- strated "Cheese and bacon, swirls."
