Clandeboye ladies ball team
win three consecutive games

CLANDEBOYE
The Clandeboye UCW met at
the home of Rev. & Mrs. Madden,
Lucan.
Mrs. C. Coughlin, president,
opened meeting with a prayer
and a reading.
Plans were made for the July
12 wedding and a community
shower for Hazel Simpson to be
July 3.
Plans for "Dinner is Served"
was completed and a date set -
October 28.
The ladies all took part in the
worship service. The meeting
adjourned with a prayer and
hymn "Work for the Night is
Coming".
The hostess served a dainty
lunch.
Ladies softball
Clandeboye Ladies Softball
Team have played three games
of their schedule and have won
them all.
Sunday evening at Lieury they
played Ailsa Craig with the score
11-3.
This week they play Wed-
nesday in Lucan, Thursday, 12,

members of the Lucan TOPS
club, spent the weekend in
Ottawa where they attended the
TOPS convention Reah Markus
was one of the graduating Alumni
and KOPS from the Lucan club
who was choesen Queen for
successfully keeping her goal
weight for one year.
Mrs. Markus went on to
Montreal, where she will be
visiting with her sister Miss
Elaine Armstrong in that city.
Zion UCW packs bale,
to buy coffee maker

ZION
Zion UCW held their June
meeting Wednesday evening in
the church with Mrs. Harold
Hern as hostess.
Mrs. Ray Jaques the president,
was in charge of the business.
Minutes, roll call and treasurer's
report were given. A motion was
passed to buy a coffee maker.
The bale will be packed and sent
to the Saugeen Indian Reserve at
Southampton.
Plans were completed for the
Sunday lunch after the church
service.
Mrs. Keith Hern and Mrs.
Lorne Hern were in charge of the
program. Dorothy read the topic
on "Quietness and Happiness".
Mrs. Harry Hern read a poem
"Strawberries and June",
Margaret had a display of
mementos which she had
brought from Florida in the
spring. She gave us a report of
the places they visited, closing
the meeting with the song "It's a
Small Small World."
Zion West United Church held
their Sunday School anniversary,
also celebrating the fiftieth an-
niversary of church union with
Rev. R. Wilson of Beamsville a
former minister, as guest
minister.
The Scripture was from
Ephesians, Chapter 4, verses 1-12
and chapter 5 verses 22-32
illustrating "Christ, the church
and you" which was also the topic
for his sermon.
He closed his sermon with a
verse from one of Annie Johnson
Flint's poems, The Worlds Bible.
Alan and Ivan Hern, Sunday
School superintendents, took part
in the service. Alan read the Old
testament scripture psalm 27
with the congregation. Ivan
announced the hymns. Rev. J.
Beaton also assisted in the ser-
vice. The hymns and music were
chosen from old Sunday School
hymn books. The church choir
and Sunday school members
sang three anthems. "Just a
Little Pansy" "Blossom Bells"
and "Do Lord" with the organist
and choir leader Mrs. Lorne Hern
in charge.

guests of the Arkona Youth
Group at Rock Glen Thursday
evening.
A surprise birthday party was
held at Barb Davies home for
Judy Henry on Saturday evening.

speaker. Rev. Holley formerly
