where he was involved in working
with teachers.
From1973 to date, he has been
the vice-principal at Our Lady

and it is to this school that K. J.
Schenkel, present principal at St.

include gardening, general
sports, soccer, hockey and
wrestling in particular.
It is most interesting and en-
couraging to hear Mr. de Salaiz
say one of his aims while at St.
Patrick's is that, in a year or two,
the staff and the community will
think as much of him as they now
do of Mr. Schenkel.

Church News
The 113th Anniversary of the
congregation and the 50th
Anniversary of Church Union
were celebrated at the Lucan
United Church on Sunday.
Guest speaker for the occasion
was Evan McGugan of London,
member of the Board of Stewards
at Metropolitan U.C. and general
manager of the Western Fair
Association.
His topic was "Double A
Squared". He said that of a given
number of people in Church 50
percent are asleep and 50 percent
are awake. Of the 50 percent
awake, half are alert and half of
those are aware of the needs of
the Church.
Calvin Jackson, also of London
was trumpeter for the occasion,
playing two solos "The Holy
City" and "Trunipet Volun-
tary", as well as accompanying
the organ for the hymns.
Special music by the choir
"Gloria In Excelsis" was
written by Mr. Kight especially
for this double Anniversary.
Rev. Ewart Madden led in the
service of worship, assisted by
the chairman of the Board of
Management, Alden Walker.
Next Sunday, Rev. Jack
Thompson of London will be the
speaker as Mr. Madden will be
attending the 'Keswick Weekend'
with several other men of the
congregation.
Tuesday, June 18 members of
the Friendship Unit of the U.C.W.
will hold their last meeting until
fall, with a visit to the Country
Spire. Friends wishing to go
along are asked to be at the
Church at 7.15 p.m.
Following the service a
fellowship, "finger" luncheon
was enjoyed. Mrs. E1'don
Hodgson and Percy Vahey, the
most senior members of the
congregation, cut an Anniversary
Cake.
Pentecostal
A "Bus" breakfast was enjoyed
by 14 members of the Sunday
School, prior to starting out with
the bus for pick up of children. A
record attendance resulted with
92 present for Sunday School.
Special guests at the Church
services were Mr. & Sherwood of
Cleveland, Ohio.
Mr. Sherwood speaking from
John 15, said that to have real
joy, Christians must forgive
others as Christ forgave them. He
told his congregation to be
patient, helpful and loving
toward others and live their faith.
Mrs. Sherwood sang a solo
accompanying herself on the
piano.
At the evening service the film
"Russia Today" was presented
showing the terrible conditions
under which Christians live in
Russia.
The Sherwoods are associated
with the Christian Mission
Publishers and are working to
send scriptures and gospel radio
messages to Christians in Russia.
Mrs. Sherwood sang again,
Joan Lockyer also sang a solo
accompanying herself on her
guitar, and Mrs. John Armitage
and Rev. Brewster sang a duet.
