Gerald was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dietrich, RR 3, Dashwood, brother of Mrs. Con (Linda) Foran, Centralia; Suzanne and Donna at home; Robert, Exeter; Richard, Thomas and Leonard Jr., all at home. Prayers were said at the T. Harry Hoffman Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 11 with Requiem Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Thur- sday, June 12. Rev. J. Mooney will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. MELISSA MAY HYTTENROUCH Melissa May Hyttenrouch, three year old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ron Hyttenrouch, Port Lambton, passed away June 6, in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Surviving besides her parents are grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Warren May, Exeter and Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hyttenrouch, Wind- sor. Interment was in Exeter Cemetery on June 9. LYDIA TAYLOR Funeral services were held Saturday, June 7 for Lydia Taylor who passed away at Huronview Nursing Home, Clinton, June 5. Mrs. Taylor was the wife of the late James Taylor, and the mother of Mrs.Robert (Evelyne) Pettit, Centralia, Mrs. R. (Olive) boxendale and the late Leonard H. Taylor. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. W. Williams (Phyllis) of England, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. DOUGLAS L. SMITH Douglas Lloyd Smith, of Elizabeth St. St. Marys formerly of Woodfiam, passed away suddenly in Blanshard Township, Saturday June 7 in his twenty- first year. Ile was the son of Lloyd and Shirley Smith. Also surviving are one sister Dianne of London, and a grandmother Mrs. Orville (Molly Brock) Roger of London. Douglas was an apprentice mechanic with St. Marys Motors, and was continuing for a cer- tificate from Fanshawe College, London. He was a member of the Kirkton-Woodham Combines, and the Downie Juniors ball teams. Douglas rested at the Lindsay Funeral Home, St. Marys, where funeral service was held Tuesday June 10 with the Rev. R. N. Savary of St. Pauls Anglican Church Kirkton, officiating. Interment was in St. Pauls Anglican Cemetery, Kirkton. McGill of Detroit. FRANK R. HAMILTON Frank R. Hamilton passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 7, in his 62nd year. Frank was the husband of Loreen Martin; borther of Mrs. Nelson Hunkin (Elizabeth), Teeswater; Mrs. Cliff Miller (Margaret) of Staffa, Mrs. Bruce (Mary) Balfour, of Sault St. Marie, Mrs. Carlyle Cornish (Wilma) of Queensville. He was predeceased by one sister Mrs. Alvin Worden (Gladys). Funeral services were held at the Hopper Hockey Funeral Home, Exeter on Tuesday, June 10, with the Rev. Wilfred Jarvis officiating. SHIRLEYMAY ACRES Funeral services were held Tuesday June 10, at the McFarlane and Roberts Funeral Home, Lambeth for Shirley May Acres who passed away Saturday June 7 in her 36th year. Mrs. Acres was the wife of Charles Acres Jr. and mother of Ted, Richard, David, Catherine, and Johnny, all at home. She was also survived by sisters, Mrs. Orville (June) Romphf, Thedford, and Mrs. Charles (Jean) Henderson, Arkona, and one brother Don of Hensall. Services were conducted by Rev. William Townson and Rev. R.A. Joselyn. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery, Delaware. GEESJE KATS Geesje "Grace" Kats, Exeter, died in South -Huron Hospital on Tuesday. She was 67 and is survived by her husband, John Kats. She was the mother of Mrs. John (Sieny) Lamberink of Freelton, and Aleida, at home; sister of Klaas Booy, London, and Jo Booy, Assen, Holland. Also surviving are five grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 12 at the Bethel Reformed Church, Exeter, with interment in Exeter cemetery. Rev. Henry VanEssen will officiate at the service. Dinney Funeral Home, Exeter, are in charge of the arrangements. CHARLES STERLING MACKENZIE Charles Sterling MacKenzie of 800 Exmouth Street, Sarnia, died in Sarnia General Hospital on Tuesday, June 10, 1975. Born in Varna, Ontario, Mr. MacKenzie was a petroleum dealer in the Sarnia area. He was a member of the Brigden Leopold Lodge and a member of Dunlop United Church in Sarnia. Surviving to mourn his loss are his wife, the former Aerial May Beverley, a daughter Mrs. T.C. (Jean) Michaud of Wisconsin, three sons Beverley Charles of Burlington, Douglas W. and W. Stuart, at home. He was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers. Mr. Mackenzie is resting at the Stewart Funeral Home in Sarnia where funeral service will be conducted on Thursday af- ternoon, June 12, at one o'clock. Committal service will follow in Exeter Cemetery at three o'clock. CHARLES M. WILSON Charles Miller Wilson, 75, of RR 6. St. Marys passed away suddenly at his residence, lot 10 Base Line of Blanshard Town- ship, Saturday, June 7. He was born in Blanshard township November 3, 1899 and was the son of the late Benjamin and Annie Wilson. Ile is survived by brothers Gordon RR 6, St. Marys and John of Toronto. Two brothers predeceased him. The late Mr. Wilson rested in the Lindsay Funeral Home, St. Marys where funeral services were held Monday, June 8. The Rev. Grant Dawson of Woodham officiated. Interment in Kirkton Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were Russell Daube, Lloyd Thompson, Wm. Spence all of RR 6, St. Marys, James Gardiner, RR 1, Kirkton, George Hamilton and Clarence Switzer,b‘Wpf RR 1 St. Marys. • Bicyclist breaks arm Only one motor vehicle ac- cident was reported by the Exeter Police Department during the past week. On Saturday, a 1968 Mercury truck driven by Kenneth Crawford of Lucan and a 1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Marten Dykstra of Exeter collided on Wellington Street with $50 damage resulting. Police said the truck backed into the car. Exeter Police are looking for a vehicle believed to have been ievolved in a hit and run ac- cident. The car is red or orange with a white stripe across the back and has dual exhaust. The car is damaged on the right side. Anyone having information about the car should call Exeter Police at 235-1235. On Monday night, Exeter Police investigated a mishap at the Exeter fairgrounds where Tom Gilchrist of Huron Park fell from a bicycle and broke his left arm. He was taken to South Huron District Hospital by Hoffman Ambulance. Constable McMeekin investigated. The police department has a pocket calculator which was found on Victoria Street East on June 9. The owner should call at the police office. Three persons have been charged in connection with a breakin at the Zip Car Wash where thieves attempted to remove money from the coin box on Monday, June 9. Historical group elects The Huron County Historical Society's annual meeting was held recently in the Holmesville Public School, Mr. David McClure, president, was in the chair. Words of welcome were given by Mrs. C. Penhale, president of Goderich township Women's Institutes and Mr. Jerry Ginn, Reeve of the township also spoke briefly. Mrs. M. Driver played a medley of tunes on the violin accompanied by Mrs. Molly Cox. A reading by Mrs. Hazel McCreath was also enjoyed. Mrs. Barbara Betties gave a paper on the history of Goderich township. Hensall church ladies mark 85th birthday The Women's Missionary Society of Carmel Presbyterian Church celebrated their eight - fifth anniversary on Tuesday evening when they entertained guests from First Presbyterian Church of Seaforth, Caven Presbyterian Church of Exeter; St. Paul's Anglican Church and members of the Arnold Circle Evening Auxiliary and Home Helpers. The president, Mrs. Harvey Hyde, welcomed the guests and opened the meeting with remarks from the Church Centennial - "Remembrance, Renewal and Response." Mrs. Glenn Bell and Mrs. Percy Campbell were in charge of the devotional. The theme "Adventures in Faith" was capably taken by Mrs. Glenn Bell. Mrs. Campbell read Scripture passages and led in prayer.\Irs.Malcolrq Qougalland Mrs. Edith Bell contributed a vocal duet accompaned on the piano by Miss Linda Bell. T -A photo Endorse clubhouse action Exeter's RAP committee this week endorsed a decision reached by their facilities committee over the sharing of the local lawn bowling clubhouse. The decision reached calls for the bowlers to have use of the facility from May 15 to October 15 and the euchre club to have use of the room for the other six months of the year. The plan will be in effect for one year. "There appears to be some basic barriers to cooperation (between the two groups)," rec director Jim McKinlay stated in advising members of the com- mittee decision. "What's the basic problem^- Dttve Zyluk asked. "They couldn't get along. - RAP chairman Jack Underwood replied. He added that RAP hope to have the two groups sharing the facility next year. - - . - Gord Baynham laid he thought the two groups should be old enough to work the matter out themselves. Reeve Derry Boyle said one of the main problems was the fact members of the bowling club will not accept the fact they don't own the facility. The clubhouse and greens are now owned by the town and ad- ministered by RAP. - However. Boyle predicted the matter would smooth out. Soldan thanked the speaker and all responsible for the program. Mrs. Earl Campbell had the honour of cutting the "Birthday Cake" which was lit with candles. A social hour was enjoyed and refreshments served. Pool to open this weekend The Exeter and area swim- ming pool is expected to be open this weekend. Alvin ‘1'illert advised RAP that the painting has been completed and the pool will be filled. He said the filling had to be cotnpleted by today (Thursday) because the PUC planned to start pumping from their new water storage tower on Nelson Street and wanted the pool filled prior to that time. Pool supervisor Sue Atkinson attended Monday's RAP meeting and indicated that requests had been received from Huron Hope School for the Retarded and :IRC Industries, Dashwood. to use the pool this year. Stephen sign to halt dogs Officials of the London Humane Society have completed an agreement with Stephen town- ship to carry out regular dog patrols in the municipality. For a fee of 51.200 per year. London based officers will patrol the Huron Park area and the police villages of Centralia, Crediton and Dashwood once a week. The patrols are expected to start in mid-June. Any stray animals will be taken to the London Humane Society pound. Council has increased the maximum amount for tile drain loans to $200 per acre from $150 to a limit of 75 percent of total cost of construction. Commenting on the increase clerk Wilmar Wein said that systematic draining costs would now be at least $300 per acre. A land severance application from Len Veri at lot 19.
