Crediton bantams off
to WOAA flying start
The Crediton bantams made
their first start of the season in
the Western Ontario Athletic
Soccer seniors
are victorious
The Exeter Centennials came
up with an excellent team effort
Sunday to record a victory in the
Ausable Valley soccer league.
Travelling to Taxandria, the
Centennials with only 10 players
scored a 2-0 win over the home
club.
Al Hern took care of all of the
scoring for the Centennials with a
goal in the first half and ensuring
victory with another successful
boot with about 10 minutes
remaining in the second half.
Rec ball
organized
The six team Exeter and
district Rec softball league is now
underway. All games of the
Exeter Firemen home and away
will be played at the Exeter
diamond to keep members on call
for any fires which may develop.

for bowlers
Lawn bowling enthusiasts at
the Exeter club participated in
three jitneys this week.
LawrenceWeinemerged as the
Thursday night winner, Clarence
Down was best Saturday and
Ross Taylor walked off with
Tuesday's championship.
In winning Thursday,
Lawrence Wein amassed a plus
of 17 and aggregate of 30 to go
with two victories. Alvin Pym
was second with a plus of 13 and
32 aggregate.
Glenn McKnight finished third
with a 10 plus and aggregate of 28
and Beryl Elgie and Wes Watson
were deadlocked for fourth spot
with a plus of two and 17
aggregate.
Clarence Down compiled a plus
of 11 and 20 aggregate to take
Saturday's competition by a
narrow margin over runner-up
Olive Harvey who scored the
same plus but an aggregate of 18.
Stan Mitchell was third and Bill
Etherington fourth.
Competition was again close
Tuesday with Ross Taylor
winning on two wins, a plus of 14
and 24 aggregate. Close behind
was Stan Mitchell with an 11 plus
and the same aggregate of 24. Bill
Etherington and Lawrence Wein
were tied for third postion.
Association a winning one
Wednesday with a 9-5 victory
over Seaforth.
The Crediton youngsters
coached by Lorne Preszcator
were at home to Palmerston last
night. Wednesday and travel to
Palmerston, Friday night
Wednesday they will play host to
14ingham.
Six Crediton runs in the bottom
of the fifth inning ensured the
victory although Seaforth
bounced back with five runs in
the next inning.
In the second inning singles by
Gerrard Brennan and Randy
Parsons produced the first
Crediton score. The second
marker for the winners came in
the fourth when Jerry McCann
walked and scored on another
single from Randy Parsons.
Five singles powered the six
run Crediton outburst in the fifth.
They were delivered by Gerrard
Brennan, Paul Pooley, Dennis
Preszcator, Paul Gaiser and
Randy Parsons.
In the Crediton sixth. Rick
Govers doubled and came home
on Gerrard Brennan's single.
Paul Gaiser and Paul Pooley
shared pitching duties for the
winning Crediton club.
Fete bride
at Centralia

Mrs. Bill Hodge (nee Joanne
Cronyn daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Larry Cronyn) was guest of
honour, prior to her marriage at a
miscellaneous shower in the
Centralia Community Centre
when 94 signed the guest book.
Mrs. Leo Boyle was emcee for
the program and taking part
were Mrs. Earl Dietrich who
gave a reading, Mrs. Roy Ryan a
monologue; vocal duet by Nancy
and Mary Lou Tindall with Penny
Smith at the piano; piano solo by
Penny Smith.
Mrs. Boyle read the address
and the gifts were presented in a
decorated wagon by Jacqueline
and Alison Cronyn, cousins of the
bride.
Diane and Joan Hodge and
Cathy Scott assisted Joanne in
displaying the gifts.
Joanne expressed appreciation
for the beautiful and useful gifts.

Larry Cronyn returned home
from St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, on Wednesday of last
week.
Mrs. Robert Breen, who was a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital
following a fall in which she
suffered a broken hip, was able to
return to her home on Saturday.

week vacation are Mr. Rimmer's

dance with the Weed Control Act,
1972, Section 4, Nos. 11, 14 and
20, and amendments thereto, that
unless noxious weeds growing on
their lands within the Municipality
of Grand Bend are destroyed by
date of June 20, 1975 and
throughout the season, the
Municipality may enter upon the
said lands and have the weeds
destroyed, charging the costs
against the land in taxes, as set out
in the Act.
The co-operation of all citizens is
earnestly solicited.

Squirts undefeated
Minor soccer teams win again
The Exeter squirts continued
their winning ways in Huron
Minor Soccer Association play.
Monday with their third con-
secutive win.
The squirts coached by Dave
Silcock blanked the Huron
Dukes by a score of 3-0 in
Seaforth.
Centre forward Scott Lovie
booted two goals one in each half
and right fullback Rick Gilfillan's
first period efforts were
rewarded when he scored a well
taken goal just before the in-
terval.
Goalkeeper Dennis Eisenchink
kept his perfect record alive with
his third straight shutout. In the
three games the Exeter team has
scored 11 goals and hold a
commanding first place lead with
six points.
In the atom division the Exeter
team came up with two victories.
Friday, Exeter scored a 4-2
victory over the Seaforth Kickers
and Monday night they came up
with a thrilling come -from -
behind 3-2 victory over Clinton.
Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Julian
Ball scored five minutes into the
second half and John Kernick
booted the tying goal with only 10
minutes remaining.
Julian Ball came back with
another successful boot with five
minutes left on the clock to give
the Exeter youngsters the .win.

introduced her friend, Mrs. Mas
Anderson, from Scotland, an

and answered questions con-
cerning Institute work in
Scotland.
Mrs. Keller was chairlady for
the program and dealt with the
motto, "How important are
you?" Roll call was answered by
telling what you did with your
hands. Mrs. Earl Guenther gave
a reading - Do you support your
town'? Mrs. Mervyn Tieman and
Mrs. Ross Love sang two duets.
Guest speaker, Mickey
Struyke, spoke on crafts and
displayed her weaving and other
articles which will he on sale at
her shop at Grand Bend.

honeymoon in the Bahamas and

Cromarty women discuss
public health project topic

Mrs. J. Jefferson was hostess
for the June meeting of Cromarty
WMS. Mrs. C. Douglas,
presiding, opened the meeting
with a poem, God's Instrument.
Mrs. Calder McKaig gave the
treasurer's report and recorded 12
cards and 7 visits to shut-ins.
The fourth chapter of the study
book, Good Samaritans, was
given by Mrs. McKaig, Mrs. Jim
Miller, Mrs. Mervin Dow, Mrs.
T.L. Scott, Mrs. M. Lamond, Mrs.
Jefferson, Mrs. Douglas and Mrs.
Grace Scott.
Eight members answered the
roll call with a verse on friend-
ship. An invitation to attend the
85th anniversary of the WMS of
Carmel Church, Hensall, June 10
was received.
The topic, Public Health
Project. was taken by Mrs. Jim
Miller. Current events were
given by everyone.

The Cromarty community was
shocked on Saturday evening to
hear of the death of Frank
Hamilton in a car accident in the
Clinton area. Sympathy is ex-
tended to his wife, Loreen, and
other relatives.
Church services were can-
celled on Sunday morning and a
large number from here attended
anniversary services at Hibbert
United Church, Staffa.
The Cromhenex couples' club
held a family picnic at Cromarty
church on Sunday afternoon.

After leading 4-1 until the
eighth inning, Staffa junior boys
Receive grants
for official plans
To help offset the costs of
producing official plans for local
municipalities, the County of
Huron will be receiving $30,000 in
community planning study
grants.
Gary Davidson, Huron's
director of planning said Thur-
sday he had been advised by the
Ministry of Housing that ap-
proval had been given for the
grants.
The money will help cover the
costs of developing plans for
Grey, Colborne and Goderich
townships, the villages of
Brussels and Zurich, and for
Vanastra, the former Canadian
Forces Base near Clinton.
Mr. Davidson said $5,000 will be
sent to each of the six
municipalities (Vanastra's will
go to Tuckersmith Township
council) who are then expected
to forward the funds to the
county.
The Huron County planning
department has prepared or is
completing official or secondary
plans - for each of the
municipalities which are
designed to conform to the
county -wide official plan.

Mother & Daughter Banquet at
Kirkton-Woodham Community
centre Tuesday June 3. There
were 76 badges and 13 emblems
earned.
Patricia Berendsen received
her Canada Cord. Fifteen
Brownies and their mother's
attended. There were eight
Brownies "flying up" to Guides
with a total of fifty-two badges
earned. Mrs. Jack Youngson,
Miss Peggy Simpson, Airs. Keith
Stephen & Mrs. Wilbur Kernick
received gifts for their several
years of work with the Guides &
Brownies.
Mrs. Cliff Scott, Mrs. Al
Eveleigh, Mrs. Eva Gettler at-
tended the National Arts Centre,
Ottawa, at the TOPS Provincial
recognition day on the weekend
where Mrs. Scott received her
two year alumni KOPS & Mrs.
Eveleigh graduated as KOPS.
