Twelve members were present. The meeting opened with the 4- 11 pledge. Mary Johns was elected president; Cathy Miller, vice-president; Kathy Cooper, press reporter. The club will have a rotating secretary. The club nick -name will be "Weeping Weeds". The next meeting will be held May 12 at Joan Kerslake's Discussion was "Why and where to grow a vegetable garden" and "Flowers and where to plant them". The second meeting of Elim- ville II was held Monday, May 12 at Joan Kerslake's. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge. Mary Johns, the president, was in charge of the business. Twelve members answered the roll call "My favorite flower and why I like it". The minutes were read. The next meeting will be at Eleanor Johns on June 2 at 7:30 p.rn. A discussion was held on preparing the soil; growing and transplanting young plants; planting the garden, looking after your garden; planting and care of flowers and tidying home surroundings. The girls' mothers %ere their special guests. The meeting opened by repeating the purpose, motto and the first verse of the hymn. The minutes were read and the treasurers report given. The roll call was answered by 12 girls and two leaders. The girls finished their crafts. The leaders, Barbara Ballantyne and Shirley Cooper presented the first year girls with their membership certificate, tie, pin and red stars. They were Heather Reid, Barbara Skinner, Jackie and Michele Riehl. Karen Johns, Cheryl Cann, Pat Hodgert and Diane Ballantyne received blue stars for their second year of Explorers. The graduates completing three years were Margaret Pym, Donna Kerslake and Joan Cooper. Cheryl Stewart received a certificate, gold stars on a "E" pin. Also graduating were Diane Ballantyne and Jackie Riehl. The girls presented their leaders with a gift and thanked them for their leadership in the past two years. Each girl presented their mystery mother with a carnation and a card. The Explorers enjoyed a bowling party at the Exeter Bowling Lanes Saturday af- ternoon. They returned to the home of Shirley Cooper, one of the leaders, for a ball game and a barbecue. Personals Mrs. Dorothy Thompson of London spent an afternoon during the past week with Mr. & Mrs. Bill Routly. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Routly visited on Friday with Mr. & Mrs. Ken Hogg of Thorndale and also visited with Norman Routly who is a patient in St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Howard Johns and girls attended the marriage of Carol Johns and Robert Wadell on Saturday. May 3 in Islington United Church, Toronto. Laura and Mary were bridal attendants for their sister and Steve Johns was an usher. Others attending were Mrs. Steve Johns; Mr. & Mrs. John Miners, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Sweitzer, London and Mr. & Mfrs. Wayne Shannon of Sarnia. Mr. & Mrs. Reuben Pehlke, Monkton and Mrs. Gladys Davidson, Cleveland visited a couple of days with Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Fulton. Mr. & Mrs. Steve Johns and Kevin moved to this community this week. Mr. & Mrs-. Howard Pym and Joan attended the Braid -Docking wedding Saturday at Thamesview United Church, Fullarton. The Mother's Day service at Elimville church was well at- tended Sunday morning. Mrs. Elva Routly and Mrs. Jean Johns were ushers for this . special service. The rite of baptism was administered by Rev. Barry Robinson to Mark Dale Lynn, son of Mr. & Mrs. Larry Lynn. Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Kerslake and Sarah, Mr. & Mrs. Larry Fulton, Dale Skinner, Shirley Brintnell and Gary Parsons visited with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Kerslake and family.
