A "Festival of Joyous Praise"
was conducted by Dave and Marg
Hinds of London, formerly of
Toronto. Sunday morning at the
Lucan United Church. The theme
"Praise God" ran through the
entire service when Dave and
Marg led the congregation in
several new "classical folk" style
songs.
The witness of these Iwo young
people made a great impression
on the large number of members
and friends which filled the
church.
The flowers in the sanctuary
were from the funeral of Mrs.
Arthur Simpson of Clandeboye.
The next gospel sing -out will be
Sunday at 8 p.m. with Donna
Walker and Joe Neves as musical
guests.
Reminder to UCW members
Members of the UCW are
reminded that they meet at Holy
Trinity Anglican Church on
Tuesday. May 13 at 7:30 promptly
for their brief business meeting
and then to hear Mrs. Donald
Black at the Guild meeting at 8

Pentecostal Holiness Church
Bill Cochrane, the assistant
pastor at the Pentecostal
Holiness Church led the singing
al both services on Sunday, ac-
companied by Mrs. A. Graham.
At the morning service Rev.
Ray Brewster spoke from Luke
22. 14-20, saying we take com-
munion in rememberance of God,
and as food gives us natural
strength, so communion gives us
spiritual strength.
At the evening service, Mr.
Brewster chose two scriptures
Exodus 14:13-14 and II Chronicles
20: 15-17 and he told his
congregation that often in times
of trials we try to find our own
way of solving our problems, but
God tells us to stand still and
depend on Him and He will see us
through.
Joan Lockyer sang a solo ac-
companying herself on the guitar
and Cathy Hopps was also a
soloist and was accompanied by
Mrs. Graham. Rev. Walter Day
will be the special speaker at both
services next Sunday.
The weekly Bible study group
will meet each Tuesday. rather
than each Wednesday, as
heretofore.
WI committee meets
The WI committee for the
"International Tea" met on
Wednesday to finalize plans for
the Tea which will be held in the
general assembly room of the
United Church on Friday, May 30
from 2 to 5 p.m.
Different countries will be
represented. with hostesses in
national dress. Guests may
sample ethnic food at the various
tables, which will be decorated
according to country.
An added attraction will be a
central table with a display of
articles from as many countries
of the world as possible. If you
have an article you would like to
display. please phone 227-4702.

The Huron Diocese ACW
Annual meeting was held at St.
James, Westminster Anglican
Church last week with special
speaker, the Most Rev. E. W.
Scott, Primate of the Anglican
Church of Canada.
Archbishop Scott told the
assembly to "confront despair
and replace it with hope" when
dealing with problems in today's
world.
Attending the sessions from
Holy Trinity Anglican Church,
Lucan, were Mrs. Frank Hardy,
Sr., Mrs. Harold Hodgins, Mrs.
Harvey Hodgins, Mrs.
George Hodgins, Mrs. Lorne
Barker, Mrs. Donald DeGraw
and Mrs. James Barker.
Girls arrange
washing of cars
The Lucan CGIT met on
Tuesday with leader Mrs. Randy
Paul leading in worship on the
theme "Spreading Happiness".
Posters were made for the car
wash to be held on Saturday, May
10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the
B.P. Station, Lucan at a cost of $1
per car.
The Mother and Daughter
Banquet date was confirmed for
June 19 and the members
discussed the type of program
they would present.
Strings were put on the com-
pleted banners which will be
hung during the week and the
girls will start making Macrame
necklaces in two weeks time.
Bride -elect shower
Mrs. Glen Kennedy was hostess
for a kitchen shower for Lynn
Emery on Friday evening, prikr
to her marriage to Robert
Graham, on June 14 in the Lucan
United Church. Friends from
London, Thorndale and the
village showered the bride -elect
with lovely and useful gifts.
