The Lucan Irish were
eliminated from further OHA
Junior 'D' play when Belmont
blanked them by an 8-0 score,
Wednesday.
Juvenile
In the first game of their
Shamrock playoffs against St.
Thomas, the Lucan juveniles
edged the visiting team by a 6-5
score in a game played Monday.
Randy Kraul 'led Lucan with a
goal and four assists while Brad
Taylor added two goals and an
assist. Cecil Nickles, Gerald
Spruyt and Bob Cornish added
single markers for the winning
team.
Midget
Wednesday night in the fourth
Lions canvassing
for Red Cross
The Lucan and District Lions
Club decided at the meeting
Monday night to make a house to
house canvass for the Red Cross '
next week. Pee-wees
Together with members of
other district clubs the Lucan
members voted to assist in the
purchase of a new van for Strath -
mere Lodge, one with a lift for
wheel chairs.
Further plans were made for
the casino night May 30 at the
Arena, to assist in raising money
to help put the tennis courts in
playing condition.
The members will assist the
Junior Farmers in a night of
broomball followed by bingo and
euchre with proceeds going to the
Bunny Bundle.

defeated Lucan midgets by a 5-2
score. The Watford win evened
the series at two games apiece
with the deciding game in
Watford.
Thursday Lucan topped
Watford by a 10-6 score and the
right to advance to semi-finals
against Caledon. Cord Moon led
Lucan with four goals while Cecil
Nickles added three. Jim Benn
added two while Rick Freeman
scored one. The first home game
in the semi-finals will be on
Saturday night at 7 p.m. in a best -
of -five series.
Bantam
In an exhibition game Lucan
bantams edged London Minor
Hockey Association 3-1 with Ron
Glenn, Martin Clarke and Calvin
McCallum scoring for Lucan.
Monday night in Shamrock
play offs, four goals by Calvin
McCallum proved to be too much
for Belmont as Lucan defeated
them 4-1.
Projector ready
for senior club
Forty-one seniors met in the
club rooms Thursday afternoon
for euchre and crafts.
During 'the business session,
chaired by president Gordon
Hotson, Miss A. Northgraves and
J. Alex Young were welcomed
back and a new member, Mrs. D.
Wilkinson was also made
welcome. Mrs. R. Atkinson was
thanked for providing a cribtage
board. Cecil Robb announced
that the projector had arrived
and $10 was donated (o "Bunny
Bundle".
Several members reported
making telephone calls to shut-
ins and others were invited to
share in this service.
Birthday wishes were con-
veyed R,.,Mrs,, BarggeHodgins
and IWrs. Cc�'c Roi;b Hodgins
members were asked to
remember Lewis Reycraft who is
a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London.
In the euchre games, Mrs.
Cecil Neil won ladies' high; Mrs.
Wes. Atkinson, playing a man's
card. men's high; and lone hands
were won by Mrs. H. Holmes.
Lunch conveners were Mrs. M.
Steeper, Mrs. E. Allison and Mrs.
H. Thompson.
The Story of St. Patrick was
read by Mrs. M. H. Hodgins and
members enjoyed a game of "Act
Fast" with Mrs. G. Hotson, Mrs.
F. hardy, Mrs. J. F. Tuke, Mrs.
H. Cobleigh and Mrs. J. Alex
Young and Albert Armstrong
acting out various Irish songs.
Mrs. Frank Hardy. Sr. sang a
humorous Irish Solo.
All seniors are invited to go
bowling Tuesday. March 25 from
2-4 p.m.
Exeter defeated Lucan 4-2 in
Shamrock playoffs Friday night
in Lucan. Doug Latta and Ken
McManus were the Lucan
marksmen.
Atom
The atoms finished their
Shamrock playoffs, ending in
second place with two wins and
two losses. Saturday afternoon in
Huron Park they lost 3-1 to Huron
Park with Steven Glenn scoring
the Lucan goal.
Monday night Exeter came to
town and were defeated by the
locals by a 3-0 score. Steven
Glenn connected for two goals:
while Robbie Black picked up one.
and Tim Culbert recorded the
shutout.
Girls
In the first game of the league
finals against CCAT, the College
defeated Lucan girls by a 4-1
score. Denise O'Brien scored the
lone Lucan goal.
Lucan Lions house league
The Aces received two goal
performances from Bob Toon-
ders, Bob Ross and Brent
Stainton as they defeated. the
Sabres 6-3 in a bantam playoff
game. Colin Wildfong, John
Toonders and Dale Cook replied
for the Sabres.
In pee wee action the Barons,
led by Greg Fisher's two goals,
defeated the Bombers 4-1. Three
goals by Drew Ozosz proved to be
too much for the Blazers as they

celebrated
Mrs. Ben Abbott of London,
celebrated her 98th birthday
March 14 in St. Mary's Hospital,
London, where she has been a
patient for some years. Mrs.
Abbott was the former Laura
Elliott, born north of Lucan, and
after her marriage she lived in
Lucan for many years, before
moving to London.
Her daughter, Mrs. Howard
Cranston and family, were
among the guests and nurses who
crowded the hospital room to
extend birthday greetings and
present small gifts as well as to
sample three birthday cakes.
