• History was on display at the
International meeting of the
Staffa Women's Institute held in
the township hall on Wednesday,
February 26 at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Charles Douglas presided
and opened with a poem "The
Lesson" followed by the Institute
Ode.

service at Zion United Church,
taped sermons from Rev. Bruce
Pierce were played. Reg Fink-
beiner gave the children's story,
Doris Schwartz supervised the
playing of the tapes and Ella
Morlock announced the hymns
and led in prayer.
Six members of the UCW at-
tended the Huron -Perth
Presbyterial at Trinity United
Church, Listowel, Friday. They
were Mrs. Ervin Ratz, Mrs.
Clara Ratz, Mrs. Gordon Fink-
beiner, Ella Morlock, Mrs. Armin
Schlenker and Mrs. Leila Fink-
beiner.
West group organize euchre
Tuesday evening in the
Community Centre there were 10
tables in play at the euchre
sponsored by the Women's
Institute. The West Group was in
charge. Winners were: •ladies'
high, Mrs. Leith Hill; lone hands,
Mrs. Joe Carter; low, Mrs. Jack
Morrissey; men's high, Gerald
Schenk; lone hands, Allen Pfaff;
low, Earl Haist; hidden score,
Earl Lewis.

All members and both leaders
were present at the meeting of 4-
11 Club 5 Saturday. A new
member joined the group. Jane
Pengilley• Home Economist was
present to observe the activities.
Time was spent at cutting out
material or working at hems and
buttonholes. .

for post office at Shipka
The Town of Exeter has now
become the official tenant of the
former post office on Main St.
A lease for the building was
received from the department of
public works on Monday. and the
clerk and mayor were authorized
to sign it at the council session
that night.
Annual rental fee is $2.250 per
year. to be paid in monthly in-
stalments.
At their meeting two weeks
ago. council agreed to hire an
architect to plan the renovation
program for the building.

Mr. & Mrs. Jack Morrissey
have returned from a holiday at
Pompano Beach, Florida, where
Mr. Morrisey was able to indulge
in his favourite pastime, wat-
ching harness racing. The
weather was ideal, with tem-
peratures in the 80's. Traffic was
heavy with many automobiles,
bearing Michigan license plates.
It was judged that employees of
the motor car industry were
taking a holiday during the time
of lay-off in the factories.
Mr. & Mrs. Maurice Beaver
flew to San Jose, near San
Francisco to visit Major and Mrs.
Bill Misener and their two
children. Temperatures were, in
the 60 to 65 degree range, the
skies sunny, making the view of
the mountains and the bay
magnificent.
Kenneth Campbell, Joe Varley
and Frank Mclsaac attended the
Good Roads Convention in the
Royal York Hotel, Toronto, last
week. Mrs. Campbell ac-
companied her husband. "
Rick Bowers, discharged from
hospital, returned to his home
last week.
Mr. &.Mrs. Ray Morlock en-
joyed a two week visit to Florida.
Disney World was crowded with
throngs of children, no doubt
because of a mid-term school
holida, in the United States.
There were crowds of travellers
also in the Gold Coast area,
making traffic heavy and the
securing of accommodation
difficult. Cypress Gardens
proved delightful and the Ken-
nedy Space Centre _most in-
teresting. Mr. & Mrs. Morlock
travelled with Mr. & Mrs. Ralph
Weber.
HI -C group bowls
for evening of fun

ELIMVILLE
Saturday, the Hi -C met at the
Exeter bowling lanes where they
played two games. Afterwards
they went back to the home of Mr.
& Mrs. Bob Humes for a game of
Court Whist. For lunch pizza and
pop was served.
The fourth meeting of the
Elimville III "Cotton Capers"
was held on February 24 at the
home of Mrs. Colleen Clayburn.
The roll call was "A new garment
or accessory I will need and my
plans for the style, colour and
texture so that it will fit into my
wardrobe."
There were nine girls present.
Kathy demonstrated how to
make French seams and how to
put on facing.
Colleen showed how to make a
flat fell seam. The proper way to
model and judge were also
discussed.
The fifth meeting of the
"Cotton Capers" was held on
March 3 at the home of Mrs.
Kathy Simpson. The roll call was
"My suggestions for our
Achievement Day exhibit or
demonstration". -
Ten girls were present. Colleen
showed how to apply a button
with a thread shank. Kathy
showed how to apply a snap.
The next meeting will be on
March 31.
The fourth meeting of Elimville
11 was held Monday at the home
of Judy Johns. The meeting was
opened by the pledge followed by
the minutes and the roll call.
Marking your pattern, plain
seam and stay stitching were
demonstrated. The members
made the samples.

The move to put all national
holidays on Monday gains
strength. We'd rather they'd
have them on Friday, because a
week that starts on Tuesday is
pretty well shot anyway.

delegate to the officers con-
ference to he held at Waterloo
University on April 29, 30 and
May 1.
The usual contribution was
made to Bunny Bundle. An all
day quilting with pot luck dinner
is to be held on the regular
meeting day in March.
