For the past six years, almost
2000, arca school children have tak-
en part in this special Christmas
program at•thc museum. This. year,.
the public is invited to join the; eel-
-cbration and• fun..
Although money was scarce and
decorations were simple, Christmas
was a special time for the early resi-
dents of Lamhton County. In the
woodshop, a carpenter will demon-
grate- the simple honieniade wooden
toys that would have delighted a
child 1(X1 years ago. •
By the 1890's people were Morc
prosperous and Christmas became •a
more elaborate celebration. _Many
presents such as wax -head dolls,
games and hooks were purchased
and placed unwrapped on and under
the tree. In the parlour, beside a tree
covered with store-bought and
homemade decorations there will be
dcmonstrations•of popular Victorian
paper crafts such as quilling.
