Panthers take on
Strathroy at home
By -Michelle Ellison
Last Wednesday, South Huron
District High'School's midget; jun-
ior and senior boys basketball teams
met Strathroy at home for exhibi--
don .games.
Panthers Midget boys played a
tough game against .Strathroy. Great
team play made them competitive
in their attempt to hold the game.
The boys kept the game close but_
came up on the short end of a 51-36
count.
Coaches George. McEwan and
Pete Heeney are expecting to see a
:successful season for the Panthers.
The seiiicif'Pan'hers -worked_ hard
in a clash against a strong Strathroy
team but lost . by a disappointing
43-41 nail -biter.
Rob.Pearcn led the Panthers with
15 points. Scott- Hcrn and Tim
McAllister- followed with eight
points a piece.
SH's Junior boys also -met an ex-
cellent Strathroy team in a highly -
competitive match. Both teams
played well but SH came up short
in the end, losing 56-49.
Ian Verbcek and Jason Clarke
were 'strong on the boards, leading
the Panthers in rebounds, while
Pete McAllister and Brett Rideout
were top scorers. J.P.. Maurer also
played well defensively for the Pan-
thers. _.
