Defunct hockey team donates for trophy case ZURICH - Applying the adage "better late than never", the Zurich arena now has a new trophy display 'case some say is four years overdue. The South Huron Hockey League dissolved four years ago and found itself with the problem of disposing of its remaining funds. "When the league split up, the money was donated to each of the towns in the league," said Ron Ra- der, who used to play for the now - defunct Zurich Buckeyes. The donation of about $1,000 was earmarked for a new trophy case to display all the Zurich Minor Athlet- ic Association awards. "We couldn't find anyone to do it," said Association director Bonnie Schenk, noting that the cabinet had to be custom built. This year Mel Overholt in Zurich took bn the job and the two joined six-foot birch cabinets now stand in the heated spectators' Area behind the ice surface. Schenk said an engraved plaque will likely be added,to the trophy case to recognize the donation from the long -gone South Huron Hockey League and to make sure no one mistakes the cabinet as having been paid for out of Athletic Association funds.
