Mohawks beat Shelburne
EXETER - The Exeter Mohawks
did not hit double digits in goals for
the first time in four games Sunday
night.
But nobody on theteam is wor-
ried just yet because they are not ex-
actly in .a scoring slump either ,as
they came close to hitting the dou-
ble digits when they beat the Shel-
burne Muskies 9-4 in Senior B
hockey action at the South Huron
Rec Centre Sunday night.
The Muskies came seeking re-
venge because Mohawks had
trounced them 14-4 on the Muskies'
home ice November 11, but it was
not to be.
Shelburne stayed close to Mo-
hawks until early in the second peri-
od when they broke open a 2-2 tie
with four straight goals in that peri -
od and cruised from there.
Paul Barton got things started for
the home team Sunday night when
he scored at 3:17 of the opening
period, with line mates Quincy
Wilker and Dave Randerson picking
up the assists.
Shelburne answered on a.goal by
• Scott Funston at 13:24 of the first.
But just six seconds later Wilkcr
put hfohawks back out in front.
with an„pnassisted got1.
Shelburne tied the game at 2-2 on
a goal by Howard Giles at 2:26 of
the second period. •

make it. a 5-2 game. -
Wilkcr then picked up his second,
from Randcrson and Barton at 15:49
of the second.
It stayed that way until 7:02 of
the third, when Bedard scored an un-
assisted goal.
Shelburne then got another past
Mohawk goalie Bill Dark, Larry
Lougheed getting his first of two;
before Glover completed his hat
trick later that period. Glover's sec-
ond
goal came at the 15 -minute
mark, from Goodhand and Dale
Timmermans and his third was a
blistering 'slap shot .that Shelburne
goalie Colin Black had no chance to
stop, while Mohawks were short-
handed. Bedard picked up the only
assist.
Loughced scored his second goal
of the game with just 13 seconds.
left to make the score a little more
respectable.
Glover and Goodhand both played
Sprts
outstanding gamcs for Mohawks.
Glover picked up the hat trick'and
hustled all night, while Goodhand
had one goal and two assists and
was constantly causing chaos in
front of the Shelburne net and giv-
ing Black fits.
Mohawks outshot Shclhurnc-34-
