Lions collecting toys in Zurich

ZURICH - December 3 is the
second "Toy Drop" date at the Fire
Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the
Huron Christmas Bureau.
Moms, mark your calendar for
the Annual Santa Claus day which
will be held at the Arena on Satur-
day, December 10 for the kids.
Figure skating
Members of the Zurich area fig-
ure skating club delivered phone
books in Grand Bend Saturday, No-
vember 19, but due to rain in the
afternoon they will have to finish
delivering them this week.
Parents of the club members
who can help at the Bingo on De-
cember 8 are to phone Brenda
Schilbe at 236-4805.
Brownies
The Zurich Brownies are invit-
ing everyone to a Tupperware Party
on November 29 at St. Boniface
School gym at 6:30 p.m. This is a
fund raising event for the Brownies.
All parents, friends and relatives
are welcome todttend.
Story Hour
A reminder to all the pre-school
children that story hour at the li-
brary is this Thursday from 2-3
p.m. with the theme "Colors".

The Christmas bureau box will
be at thc back of the -Church by De-
cember 4 and anyone wishing to do-
nate items may drop them off.
The annual pot -luck supper will
be held in December with Mary -
ZURICH - Monday was a busy
spot around the Home, as the Resi-
dents of the Home, Apartments and
surrounding rural areas cast their
votes in the Federal election.
Last Monday a polling station
• was held here in the Horne for the
Residents of the Home, Maple -
woods Apartments and Blue Water
Rest Home Apartments. Considera-
ble interest was shown at this Mu-
nicipal Election.
The craft room is working hard to
keep up with the Christmas orders.
Some of our activities were cur-
tailed last Wednesday when the hy-
dro interruption lasted from 1 p.m.
to 9 p.m. We arc lucky we have a
generator that takes over to supply
us with heat and hall lights.
Movie night was changed from
Monday evening to Saturday due to
other commitments. The movies
shown were "Ambursons and
Christmas Two Step".
The Sunday evening chapel ser-
vice was conducted by Rev, Vipper-
man of Grand Bend and Exeter An-
glican churches. Mr. John Warner
presided at the organ during the ser-
vice.
Lou Turkheim and Deb Overholt's
group in charge. All members and
their children are invited to attend.
Thursday, December 8 is the Feast
of Immaculate Conception and there
will be a Mass held for "Respect for
Life".
There will be no January meet-
ing and the next General meeting
will be held on February 14 with
Alice Neilands group in charge for
the evening.
St. Boniface C.W.L. arc now
collecting "Right to Life" member-
ship dues until the end.of Novem-
ber. Family $5; Students and Sen-
iors $2 and $3 for singles.
Paper drive
Thursday is the monthly paper
drive by the "Torch; Bearer" Boys
Club of the Mennonite Church. It
begins at 6:30 p.m.

• It's really nice to see our down-
town arca looking so nice and
bright as all the stores are begin-
ning to decorate their shops and
windows for the holiday season.
Best wishes for a speedy recov-
ery are extended to Rose Regier
who is a patient in Victoria Hospi-
tal, Larry Dcnommc in Clinton
Hospital and to Ed Gascho in Alex-
andra Marine and General Hospital
in Goderich.
It is nice to see Catherine Masse
has returned from the hospital and
that Marg Johnston is now recuper-
ating at the home of her daughter
and son-in-law, Tootle and Bob
Merncr.
Jerome and Helene Ducharme
spent a few days in Las Vegas.
Thank's to "Flo" for helping out at
the library.
Ernest lhrig returned home on
Sunday after spending the last two
weeks in Germany.
November 19 a Bus load from
the Adult fellowship members of
the Mennonite Church enjoyed a
trip to the Royal Winter Fair in To-
ronto.
On Sunday November 13 at St.
Pius X Church in London, little
"Korey Gerald McKinnon" son of
Kim and Judy McKinnon, Zurich,
along with his cousin "Brenton Le-
onard Kemps" of London, who were
born on the same day October 5, re-
ceived the sacrament of Baptism by
Uncle Fr. Gary Ducharmc. God --
parents for Korey were .Mary -Lynn
Ducharme and Randy McKinnon.
After the celebration dinner was
served at St. Pius X Church Recto-
ry for family member's (27 in all).

Correction
The crib quilt from the Blue Wa-
ter Rest Home Bazaar was made and
donated by Mrs. Frieda McAdams;

heard five cases in Exeter court on
November 15.
Jesse Winston Kirk, 455 Andrew
Si., Exeter, was given four months
to pay a S150 fine after pleading
guilty to being intoxicated while an
interdicted person. He was picked
up by police on Main St. on Octo-
ber 20 and taken to thc home of a
friend. Kirk has a record of previ-
ous convictions.
A fine of S128.75 was levied
against. Donald Broom, 172 Mill
St., Exeter for a guilty plea to care-
less driving. The accused was spin-
ning his tires in the Canadian Tire
parking lot in Exctcr on September
8, and left 7.9 metres of skid marks
when he pulled onto Main St. He
was spotted by an off-duty police
officer.
Failing to stop for school cross-
ing guard Nancy Chambers on Oc-
tober 3 cost Frank Maffucci, RR 1
Hay, S53.75. He was given two
months to pay his fine.
Charles R. Wilke, Hamilton,
was found guilty of careless driving
and fined S128. He had entered a
not guilty plea, but did not appear
in court.

Wc have been busy doing a pro-
ject about Zurich to send to New
Zealand. We're writing about the
school's history of Zurich, houses,
Canadian recipe's, agriculture, na-
tive poetry, sports, Bean Festival
and Octoberfest and we brew a map
of Canada.
We also made a tape saying "Hi"
to our penpals. We took pictures of
our school and of the students play-
ing. We hope the New Zealand stu-
dent enjoy it.
We would also like to say good-
bye to one of our grade seven stu-
dents. Sarah Ticknor will be mov-
ing just outside of Exeter and will
be going to Ushornc School. She
has been at Zurich Public School
for seven years. Wc hope Sarah en-
