Lucan OPP
check fatality
LUCAN - Thc Ontario Provincial
Police at Lucan investigated eight
motor vehicle accidents during the
past week.
One accident occurred about 3:20
p.m. on November 14 and resulted
in the death of Josef Brunnenmeir,
age 38, of RR 1 Ailsa Craig. Brun-
nenmeir was the driver of a van and
was northbound on Concession
Road 2-3 of McGillivray Town-
ship.
He was struck on the passenger
side by a westbound 1987 Ford van
driven by Wayne Boyle, agc 38, of
199 William Street, Exeter, who
was travelling on McGillivray
Township Sideroad 25. Boyle was
treated for minor injuries. No charg-
es arc pending.
The other seven accidents investi-
gated resulted in three persons being
injured. Fortunately, no one was se-
riously hurt. All, except one, of the
accidents occurred on County or
Township roads.
A total of 32 general occurrences
were handled by officers at Lucan
Detachment last week. Two thefts,
a break and enter and one damage
complaint were received.
The criminal charges laid included
one impaired driver, a drug offence,
and escaping custody by a young
offender at the Wyncliffc Booth
House, RR 3, Ilderton.
With the daylight hours getting
shorter, drivers are reminded to
watch for children playing in the
evening. Many children and pedes-
trians are still out after dark at this
time of year. Parentfi should make
sure that children wear light cloth-
ing, if out after dark, so drivers can
sec them.
Now is the best time to ensure
your vehicle is tuned up and
equipped for winter driving condi-
tions. Don't wait until winter is
here to prepare for snowy and icy
conditions. Being ready for winter
is one of your best defenses against
old man winter. Please drive safely.

men like their fathers. no wonder
their mothers cry at their weddings.
