HENSALL - Lisa Heimpel and
Bonnie Schenk met with Karen
Kinsman at the Klip and Kurl hair
shop in Hensall Monday morning
to discuss the two-day hairstyling
seminar and conference they attend-
ed last weekend. in Niagara, New
York. - .
The conference drew thousands of
hairstylists from all over North
America.to see the latest in hair-
-styles, fashions, and hairctitting
systems all on display at the largest
show on the eastern seaboard.
Schenk said she has been to many
hair shows before,'tbut "it was the
best one I've ever been at." .
The three say that new styles are
reminiscent of the -1950s with
smooth, sleek, pulled back designs.
When asked if their attendance -at
this convention "meant customers in
Hensall and Zurich were going to
get better haircuts, they all said
yes''.

STRATFORD - The Annual
Christmas Seal Campaign begins
November 1. Each year The Lung
Association sends a package.con-
taining specially designed Christ-
mas Seals to 50,000 households in
Huron -Perth Counties. "The goal
for the 1988 campaign in Ontario is
$4.5 million." states Executive Di
.rector Betty Hunter: "The goal for
the two counties is $65,000.
The Lung Association is a.com-
munity based organization and your -
donations will be put to good use
in the local area. The aim is to
meetthe needs of our community.
A good example of this is the de-
velopment of a new asthma pro-
gram which will be implemented in
1988 and 1989. The new program
will supply asthma sufferers with
the latest developments in the treat-
ment of asthma. Learning to cope
with asthma is an important part in
improving day-to-day quality of lift
for children and adults who have
asthma. -
In the last ten_,years there has
been an upward trend in the inci-
dence of asthma. Asthma can cause
death. But havoc is caused by the
57,000 hospital admission per year
and the startling statistics that asth-
matics spend 320,000 days in hos-
pital for the treatment of asthma.
By giving- to The Lung. Associa-
tion's Christmas Seal Campaign,
you can help an asthmatic child to
breathe easier. Each Christmas Seal
represents a tiny breath of air" and -
hope for a better life for millions.
