EXETER - The Exeter Novice
Panthers won a Lambton-Middlesex
Hockey League game last week and
dropped ,another. They also lost an
exhibition game to St. Marys.
They came up with a 3-0 win •
ovor Mt. Brydgcs, lost to Strathroy
' • 3-.1, while dropping the exhibition
game 8-1.

of the first period and the only goal

when he netted an unassisted goal.
Brian Hayman notched his first of
two on the day, from Turner and
Tim Mayer, in the secondperiod.
Hayman . picked up his second
goal with a fine solo effort in the
Third period, making it a 3-0 final.
Joey Bierling earned the shutout
in net for Exeter; .
Strathroy 3 Exeter 1
Hayman got Exeter off on the.
right note when he scored the only
goal of the first period, with help
from Michael McConnel.
It was all Strathroy from then on.
Brian Dunn's first of two, from Na-
than Barker tied the, game and his
second goal, from John Gilland and
Barker; later in the second, which
turned out to bethe winner.
Strathroy's Blake Trudgoon scored
an unassisted. insurance goal in the
third period.
St. Marys 8 . Exeter 1
St. Marys' David Rithegarzaden
Proved to be too much for Exeter to
handle in this contest as he scored
six of St. Marys eight goals. Two
came in the first period, one in the
second and three more in third. Dar-
ren Smale and Glen Clarke also
scored for St. Marys.
Brian Hayman scored Exeter's
lone goal, unassisted. •
Petite Ringettes start season with win
EXETER - On Saturday, October
29, the Exeter Petite Ringets_team
started their season at home against
Goderich and won 10-3.
Exeter started the scoring early
with Danielle Miners and Cara
Gardner combining their efforts for
two quick goals.
Goderich came alive with goals
from Karen. Harrison and Wendy
Thompson, but Exeter took over

the scoing with a successful shot
from Miners. Gardner chalked up
three more goals before the_first pe-
riod ended.,
The second period started with
Exeter's Judi. Wilson setting up
Miners at 13:16.
Goderich came back with a goal
from Heather Moss to make it 4-3.
The remainder of the scoring was
done by Exeter. Sonya Lawrence
managed two goals, Wilson and
Panthers win six games

South Huron District High
School's Senior boys' volleyball
team claimed all six games on
Tuesday when they hosted a regular -
season tournament at SH.
The Panthers swiped Seaforth by
scores of 15-4, 15-2 and 15-8.
SH's next yictim was St. Marys.
St. Marys had no chance, as the
' Panthers defeated them 15-6, 15-8
and 15-2.
The team is on a 12 -game win-
ning streak and has a record of 19-
•
11.
The junior Panthers wcrc equally
as successful as their senior team,
winning all six games to advance
their Huron -Perth record to 21-9.
Seaforth was not much competi-
tion for the Panthers as they took
all three games by scores of 15-8,
15-9 and 15-4.
St. Marys was SH's next oppo-
nent. The team also won all three
games, 15-7, 16-14 and 15-6.
Chris Gardner, Ian Verbeek and
Chris Angerman performed well for
the Panthers.
Both volleyball teams were sched-
uled to play yesterday, (Tuesday) to
finish their regular -season play.
Molting Hawks
beat Clinton
EXETER - Exeter Molting
Hawks were in action only once
this week beating the Clinton Fowl
Ups 10-2.
Ernie Ahrens led the way with
four goals, while Jack Chipchase
had two and Peter McFalls, Ron
Moore, Scott Burton and Phil Turn-
er each got one.
Panthers are
H -P champs

Last Tuesday, the Huron -Perth
Field hockey championship was
held at South Huron District High
School. The setting was a repeat
performance of the previous year as
South Huron defended. its title
against St. Marys.
SH dominated play throughout
the entire game and came up with a
5-1 victory.
Scoring for SH wcrc Marcie Elli-
son with a hat trick, Leanne Die-
trich with one and Joelle Lamport
also with one.
South Huron retained its undefeat-
ed season in H -P play with the win.
The lone goal scorer for St. Mar-
ys was Mona Brand, a former SH
player.
Pee Wees
lose 6-1
to Lucan
EXETER'- In their only Sham-
rock hockey League game last
week, the Exeter Pee Wees lost 6-1,
at the Lucan Arena on Friday. They
also split a pair of exhibition con-
tests, doubling the count on Sea -
forth 8-4 last Wednesday and losing
a 4-3 squcaker to Clinton last Tues-
day.
Steve Farquhar scored Exeter's
only goal in the loss to Lucan. His
goal tied the game at .8:51 of the
first period but Lucan scored the last
five goals to win. Mark Brintnell
and Ryan Stuart drew assists on
Farquhar s goal.

Lightfoot from Joe Hitchcock, Dave
Damen from Jeff Campbell, Scott
Smith unassisted, Heckman from

EXETER 8 SEAFORTH 4.
Exeter got a sparking five -goal
performance from Derck Campbell
in downing Seaforth. Not to be out-
done, Scan McCann picked up a hat
trick, while Mark .Brintnell added a
single.
Derck Beckett set up Campbell on
four of his goals, while McCann
added three assists and Gavin Snell
had a pair.
Snell, Mark Glavin and Brintnell
scored for Exeter in the loss to
Clinton.
This game was played at the Ste-
phen Township Arena in Huron
Park.
Farquhar, Bfintnell, Snell and
Campbell all chipped in with an as-
sist. . .
Bob McDonald and Bob Jones
each had three assists, while Ken
Bergman, Jim Pfaff, Scott Burton
and Brian Hodgins each had two and
Ernie Ahrens, Jack Chipchase, and
Eric Finkbciner each had single as-
sists.
Their next start is Monday when
they host Goderich.
Leeann Foster each scored singles.
Goaltender Jana Webster stood
tall in net for Exeter, and first-year
players .Cheryl -Lynn Wein, Teresa
Stire, Jo -Dee Rowe ant Amy Ed-
wards all put in a great showing.
The petites will be challenged by
teams from Goderich, Forrest, Sf:
Marys, Stratford, Seaforih and
Mitchell this year.
-On Saturday, Exeter Petites will
travel to Stratford for a 1 p.m.
game at the Main Arena. Come get
in the ringette spirit.
