Senior Panthers beat Clinton 40-32

School's senior girls basketball
team hosted an exhibition game
against Clinton on Thursday. The
team.had no trouble-dorninating the
game. winning 4.0-'3.2.
The Panthers took the lead early
and at halt time, had an atmost sure
to catch the Panthers. But SH
maintained their- lead •to win the
game.

western continued to outplay. them
winning another game to remain in
first place.
Laurie Forrester led SH with five
points. Heather Rideout, Spring
Cushman, Michcllc Ellison, and
Keay Dietz each added two.
The Junior Panthers also came up
short in their game. against the
Huskies. '
During the first quarter, SH
played well holding Northwestern
to a 6-6 draw, Unfortunately, the
Panthers began to trail early in the
second half and were down • 13-R at
half time.
Julia Merner played a superb
game scoring 12 of SH's 15 points.
Jen Taylor and Carrie Lovic added
two points and one point respec-
tively. ,,. ..
SH's Midget girls lost to a strong
Northwestern team 55-28.
The game began, on a bad note:for
SH as one of the team's valuable
players, Stacey Rader, was injured
on a rebound in the first two min-
utes of play. Northwestern took ad-
vantage of the mishap as they pro-
ceeded to dominate the game to
victory.
Angela Gould and Kerry Manders
-led the team with nine points while
Michelle McDonald added four and
Carrie Sue Kyle, two.
Irish split two games
LUCAN - The Lucan Irish split
their two Western Junior D Hockey
League games last week, losing 7-5
to Mitchell at thc Lucan Arena last
Wednesday but bouncing back to de-
feat Wellesley 6-2 on Saturday.
Lucan scored twice in the first
period, twice in the second and.
twice in the third in Saturdays con-
test.
The Irish line of Joe Febrey, Brad
Muir and Paul Barnes accounted for
10 points in this contest. Febrcy
had a pair of goals and one assist.
Muir had one goal and three assists,.
while Barnes contributed three as-
sists.
Rick Weishar, Scott Denomy anti
Paul Manders scored the other goals
for Lucan. Weishar` had the only
other assist.
Lucan had 45' shots on' Wellesley
goalie Jeff Gerber. Wellesley had
only 24 shots on Lucan goalie
Doug Haskett.
Marc. Greguirc and Dave McGon-
glc scored' for Wellesley.
The game sheet for the Lucan-
Mitchell was notmade available by
press time so details arc not known.
Mitchell did win the game 7-5.
The next game for thc Irish is t� -
night when Wellesley will be at the
Lucan Arena for an 8:15 game.

and Cousineau picked up his second
goal. from Shackleton. with 1:5j�

Shackleton scored from Cousi-
neau, Jim Duplantis scored from
Dan Nairn, Steve Aubrey scored un-
assisted, as did Doug Clark, all in
the second period for the Hawks, as
they took a 7-5 lead into the third
period.
Cousineau completed his hat trick
three minutes into the final period,
from Clark and Shackleton. it was
Exeter's only goal of the third.
Exeter was assessed only four mi-
nor penalties, while Seaforth was
assessed only three, but each team
scored a pair of power -play tallies.
Hawks' next game is Friday when
Brussels will be at the South Huron
Rec Centre. Saturday night the)
travel to Tavistock to tangle with
the Bulls and Tavistock will be at
the SHRC for a rare Tuesday night
contest. Starting time for all three
contests is 8:30 p.m.
