Fall meeting of -the South Region
of Huron -Perth Presbyterial of
t:nited Church Women on Monday,
October 24 was Kathy Monk from
the Ausahlc Bayfield Authority. -
- In her presentation Kathy outlined
the present areas of concern for our
environment. The earth is a ck)ted
system and all parts of it arc intcrre-
kited; each action causes its reac-
tion. -
Among -those concerns that she
- discussed were the causes and effects'
of acid rain Water "pollution, the
ozone layer, our forests; soil .ero-
sion by wind and water, loss of
wildlife, use of.pesticides and the
increase in allergies and diseases.

to share this week.
The Legion Ladies and the Senior
Citizens have been in to share in
our Monday bingo. We are always
glad for the monthly visits of our
Bingo buddies.
The Lioness Ladies visited- and
showed us a video of the Exeter
Fair Parade. It was most enjoyable
r tho who did not get to the pa-
ra' . d just as good the second
time. for those- whoa went. •
The ladies exhibited their talents
by creating .some jack -o -lanterns •
with a bit of advice from the audi-
ence. The delitious pumpkin bread
served by the ladies didn't last long.
Our only birthday in the .Nursing
Home this month- was Wilfred
S.hapton's. Residents celebrated his.
birthday at their monthly party, and
were pleased to have some of his
family attend. Others celebrating re-
cently were Olive Bierling and Vio-
la Beavers. Upcoming. birthdays for
this week are Annie Brintnell, and
Irene Brintnell. Best wishes to eve-
ryone.
Rev. Hawley; Exeter United
Church, conducted our worship ser-
vices two weeks ago. 1Nfrs. Josie
,Ryckman accompanied the hymns.
Rev. Vipperman, of Trivia Angli-
can Church, conducted our last .ser-
vice of October, offering commun:
ion in both the Nursing Home and
Lodge.
We were pleased to have Hewitt's
Therapy Services of -Durham host a
clothing sale last week.. Many cn-
joyedthe looking and several en-,
joyed the shopping. • .
The Exeter Girl Guides treated us
t� a different, fashion show on
Wednesday evening. They were
showing the latest in Hallowe'en
wear. To enhance the effect of the
Costumes, the girls sang some Hal-
lowe'en carols.
Once again 'music was on the
agenda as_ the Christian Reform
Choir sang for us last -Monday eve-
ning. It was a pleasure to hear
them. We will look Iorward to hear-
ing them again.
. We are now taking orders for
homemade Christmas cakes. This
year we arc offering both light and
dark cake -at S4.25 'a pound. Please
order from Nancy Holland 'at the
greetings and a message from presi-
dent Helen Anderson who was una-
ble to attend. -
Despite the very damp evening it
proved to be an interesting and
worthwhile meeting.
