Block Parent Week
OPTIBOT -`Last week was Block Parent Week at all the area elementary
schools and the Block Parents Association were providing information to
• students about the program. Lois Godboit, Donna Overholt, and Exeter
Police Constable George Robertson presented a video tape for the young-
sters at Exeter Public School and brought Optibot: a robot programmed to
help children understand Block Parenting.

Exchange student
speaks at Kirkton
KIRKTON - Campbell Berry, a
Rotary Exchange student was the
guest.speaker at a meeting of the
United Church Women held at
Kirkton United Church basement
Wedneuiay evening.
Campbell told of his experiences
and impressions and showed lovely
slides of the four places he had.
spent three months each in New
Zealand for a year.
The theme of the meeting was
Thanksgiving. The basernent was
decorated appropriately and the wor-
ship service was opened with a
Thanksgiving reading, the Doxolo-
gy and hymn. Mrs. Norman Amos,
Mrs. Robert G. Ratcliffe and Mrs.
Mervin Shute were committee in
charge.
Readings were given on the
sources of Thanksgiving, also in-
serts from a letter from the. Bihlc
Society. Thank you notes were
read. During the business it was de-
cided to send donations to the Dntg
and Alcohol Concerns and The John
Milton Society.
A refugee family coming into the
area was also mentioned and dona-
tions of money for clothing as well
as canned goods, etc. was an- .
nounced.
It was decided to send a delegate
to Toc Alpha at the end of Decem-
ber
The talent night on November 9
at the Kirkton-Woodham Commu-
nity Centre was announced. Twenty
ladies answered the roll call. Plans
for the Dedication of the new win-
dow was announced too.
The lunch committee served deli-
cious pumpkin•pie for us to enjoy a
social time together.
