Waxers drop two out of three
contests during busy weekend
EXETER - The Exeter Novice..
Waxers had a busy weekend in
Shamrock Hockey League action,
losing Friday and Saturday, but
winning Sunday.
Friday night they dropped a close
3-2 decision 'to Parkhill, in Park-
hill Saturday they were blanked 6-0
in Lucan, and Sunday bounced back
to beat Forest 6=3 at home.
After the weekend of action the
Waxers league -record is 2-3.

After a scoreless first period, Jeff
McLean scored the only goal of the
second pctiod for Exeter, unassisted
at 2:55:
David Farquhar made it 2-0 _for
Exeter early in the third period
when he scored early in the third pe-
riod, from Scott Rasenberg.
But Parkhill scored three unan-
swered goals after that to take the
victory. RyanHoldengot Parkhill
on the board and Justin Michielson
followed with a pair to take the
win.
LUCAN 6 WAXERS 0
Lucan jumped out to a quick 2-0•
first -period lead and never looked
back. Ryan Thompson scored from
Matt Porter and Scott Thompson
_scored from Chad Greenlee.
It stayed at wartintil.the third
period when Lucan scored four more
times. Kelly_Campbell scored from
Rob Silvers and Ryan Carroll,

Last week South Huron's Junior
Boys' volleyball team played in two
regular -season tournaments.
The first was held at Norwell
where South Huron met Norwell as
well as St. Mikes.
. Against Norwell, the boys took
one game 15-9 and lost two, 15-13
and 16-14. •
St. Mikes claimed one win 15-10
against South Huron but the Pan -
Carroll scored from Greenlee and
Carroll closed out the scoring from
Thomas and Mau Porter. -
Scott Mathers earned the shutout
in the Lucan net.

Farquhar opened -the scoring for
Exctcr at 5:37 of the opening period
_ on a setup Irom David Marshall.
.Farquhar returned the favor to
Marshall as the two reversed their
roles to make it' 2-0 five minutes
into the second. -

when Geoff Mayer scored after tak-
ing a pass from Lawrence Cole.
After MacLean made it 5-0 with
another unassisted goal early in the
third, Forest bounced back with
three straight goals to cut the lead
to 5-3.
But Mayer scored from Greg Ge-
offrey and Ben Cottrell to close out
the scoring.
Joey Bicrling was the winning
goalie for•Exeter.
LUCAN - The Lucan Irish im-
proved their Western Junior .D
Hockey League record to 3-0, with
a pair of wins last.week.
Friday night they dumped Welles-
- ley, in Wellesley, 6=4 and they beat
Tavistock 7-5 at the Lucan Arena
last Wednesday. -

Kevin Lietch picked up singles.
The Irish played host to Seaforth
tonight at 8:15, at the Lucan Arena.
Friday night they travel to Tavis-
tock for an 8:30. contest and Sun-
day-afternoon

Brussels to tangle with the Butts in
a 2 p.m._matinee.

games against Northwestern win-
ning two, 15-13 and 16-14, but los-
ing the third 15-8. The Panthers
outplayed Mitchell 15-1 and 15-8 in
the first two games, but gave up
their final game to Mitchell 15-6.
The team has an overall record of
11 wins to seven losses and are im-
proving with each match;
Two invitational tournaments,
one at Saunders on October 22 and
the other at Aylmer on November
5, will prepare the tcam for the rest
of their regular season. The boys
arc also hosting -a regular -season
tournament at South Huron on

Legionnares played their third game
of the Shamrock League season last
Wednesday night at the South Hu-
ron Rec Centre and dropped a 2-1
heartbreaker, giving up the winning
goal with less than two minutes
(eft. But Sunday afternoon managed
a 7-7 tic in Parkhill
Strathroy scored early in the
game. Paul Andrews, connected
from Paul Waun just 1:37 into the
game.
Then 4:45 into the third period,
David Shwindt drew Exeter even
when he snapped a wrist shot into
the Strathroy net, after bcing sct up
by Jim Ahrens.
• Exeter had control of the entire
game, hitting goal posts many
times but when Exeter was short-
handed, Mark Therrien scored the
winner for Strathroy with 1:58 left
to play.

Heywood each had a pair of markt
for Exeter and Ryan Lindcnfield
picked up the single tally.
Schwindt's first goal was an unas-
sisted shorthanded tally and Geoff
Sanders picked up the assist on Stc-
cuik's first.
Steciuk, Jeremy Mason, Hcy -
wood, Fred Godboll and Schwindt
picked up the other assists in the .
game.
Exeter showed excellent team
work with fine individual efforts as
well.
Darren Mason kept Exeter in the
game with a good effort in net. His
hot pads kicked out many Parkhill
scoring attempts.

Kinsmen Generals win twice.
EXETER - Exeter Kinsmen Gen- -
erals.won both their starts in Sham-
rock Midget action last week.
On Sunday, in Parkhill, goaltend-
er Brent MacDonald shutout the
host team, as the locals racked up a
5-0 victory. .
Mark Burton -got the Generals go-
ing' in the first. period, converting
passes from Harleli Tinncy and
Todd McCann.
The trio connected again in the
first period with Tinney scoring on
assists from McCann and Burton.
Exeter brake the game open in
the third when Bruce Papple scored
from Henri Debruyn. Burton con-
nected again from McCann and
Tom Rolph rounded out the scor-
ing, assisted by John Roseboom.

Broncos bounce back after loss
EXETER - The Exeter Broncos
came out flying on _Sunday after
playing their worst game of the
year on Saturday against Lucan.
The Broncos travelled to Parkhill
on Friday only to: bc. sou out 7-0.
- The first period ended scoreless,
as the two teams traded several good
.scoring chances.
In the second period, Parkhill
Saturday was a day the Broncos
would like to forget. The team

CHD, Marauders: and Mt. Carmel all have six points, Aces and
Shogun are next with three points each, followed by Grand Bend and
Saints with two points each and J.M.R. are tied for last with no
points.
CHD's R. Lather heads up the individual scoring race with seven
goals and four assists, good for 11 points. Aces' P. Gill and R. Wil-
liams are tied with Marauders Rob Funston withnine points each.
Marauders' D. Smith and Mark Cronyn are each next with eight
points, followed by teammates T. Underhill and M. Mills with sev-
en points each.
Shogun's R.. Pickering and R. Parker round out the top ten with
six points apiece. -
,Mt. Carmel's Doug Kelis is the league's top goalie with a 2.25 -
