Kindergarten
We in kindergarten arc off to a
great start this year. We have been
keeping a daily class diary recording
the special things that have been
happening 'in the classroom.
We have already made three books
for the class to read. We've made a
gingerbread counting book; the peo-
ple in our school book, and a book
with our pictures in it. We take
these books home and show our
parents what we have learned before
they become part of the classroom
-library.
Mrs. Marilyn Bowie has become
part of our staff as a teaching assist-
ant and will be working with Mrs.
Smith: in our kindergarten class-
room.
Grades 2-3
We have 23 students who are ea-
ger to work in grades 2 and 3 this
year. W.e have to learn many new
and interesting things in grade 2 and
3. We have already read lots of fun
stories. We arc learning about our
community; Zurich, in social stud-
ies.
Grades 4 and 5
Bienvenue to 'our new students:
Brian Dallas, Chris Keyser, Nathan
Hutton, and Shauna McKinnon.
This year our homeroom teacher
Mrs. Brintnell is also a french
teacher. Therefore we use as much
french as possible in our classroom
all day long. For example: Each
morning we begin. the day by sing-
ing "O Canada" in french.
Grades 5 and 6
We have 20 students in grade six,
and nine in grade 5. Everyone actu-
ally seemed happy to be back with
their friends after their two month
vacation.
Daily routines have been estab-
lished and all of us had to write a
"Me" poster on which we put down
our interests and feelings.
Everyone has made excellent
progress to date. We would like to.
welcome our new grade five stu-
dent, Peter Caslick.
Grades 7 and .8
G'day mates from grades 7 and 8;
We have started the year off with
our pen pal letters. So far we have
received and returned four letters
from New Zealand. During the win-
ter break Mrs, Rosie will be return-
ing to New Zealand and Ms. Wallen
will return to Canada.
Lastbatnot least, for preparation
for the annual cross-country meet at
Exeter, the school team has been
doing laps around the block. The
big race is on October 5th:
'Last year the Senior Boys won
the pennant.
Good Luck to everyone!
We would also like to welcome
four new students to our room: Ta-
ryn McKinnon; Dana Geiger, Don-
.na King, and Ben Geiger. .
