EXETER - Exeter Kinsman Gen-
erals opened their Shamrock Midget
hockey season .last week recording
One. tie and one loss.
In the home opener at Exeter last
Wednesday, the Generals carne from
behind to gain a 5-5 tie against St.
Marys.
Haden Tinney and Mark Burton
led the Generals back from a 5-2
deficit -with_ two goals a piece. Al
Blommaert scored the other Exeter
goal• -
Burton added two assists, while
Todd McCann and Bruce Papplc
helped on one goal each.
On Friday in Lucan, the locals
battled back again, this time from a
4-2 deficit to tic the game at 4-4, in
the third period but Lucan scored a
late goal to pull off a 5-4 victory. •
Tinney, McCann; Peter Lerikies
and Shawn Gillet picked up the Ex-
eter markers.
Brent MacDonald was in net in
both games for the Generals who
are coached by Scott Bogart, Stu
Robinson and Murray Nystrom.
Thc Generals saw action Wednes-
day at-home against Strathroy.
Molting Hawks start season with 2-1 r6Gord
The Exeter Molting Hawks
opened up their season last week
playing three game's, winning two
and losing one. -
They opened the season in Gode-
rich dropping a 5-1 decision to a
fast -skating, team. Ron Moore
notched the lone goal for the Molt-
ing Hawks with Ernie Ahrens pick-
ing up the only assist.
GIcn Stirc was extremely sharp in
goal. -
In their second game they opened
their home season with a 6-4 win
over North London Old Devils.
They trailed 4-2 late in the second
beforescoring two goals near the
end of the period and two more ear-
ly in the third to overcome the defi-
cit.
Ernie "Loon" Ahrens led the way
with two goals and two assists_
while Bob "Piranha" Jones also
notched two including the winner.
Scott Burton and Eric "Chromy"
Finkbeincr added single goals. Bob
McDonald and Jack Chipchasc each
had two. assists while Jim Pfaff,
Phil Turner, Scott Burton and Eric
Finkbeincr each added single as-
sists.
CROSS COUNTRY - The. public
school cross-country meet was
held last -Wednesday in Exeter and
Exeter School was able to take
three of the six team titles. See sto-
ry on page 2A.
