Young Leaders
MISSISSAUGA - Two groups of
young people, 17-21 years of age,
participated in the Co-op Young
Leaders Program at Geneva Park
near Orillia this summer. Thirty
young leaders were sponsored by
United Co-operatives of Ontario
(UCO) or by its member co-
operatives, Gay Lea Foods Co-
operative, credit unions and The
Co-operators. One young leader was
on exchange from Alberta.
During the week-long session,
training staff from UCO, The Co-
operators, CUMIS, and the London-
based St. Willibrord Credit Union
helped the young leaders discover
how to work in a group, and com-
municate effectively. The group
also discussed the qualities of a
leader, problem solving and values.
Between seminars, the young lead-
ers waterskied, swam, windsurfed
and played organized games.
The Co-op Young Leaders Pro-
gram was started 21 years ago by
UCO.
