The Ontario Legislature has de-
clared Visiting Homemaker's Week
to officially support the women and
men who work as homemakers,
helping the elderly, the handicapped
and families during a medical crisis
or chronic illness. The support is
priceless, as many clients can testi-
fy, because the skilled, trained
Homemaker must tend to practical
needs plus any emotional turmoil.
Homemaking is a growing indus-
try. The increasing elderly popula-
tion and the harsh realities of com-
municable diseases and alzhcimers,
demands greater skill and training in
the homemaking field and related.
professions.
Homemaker/Home Support Week
is not isolated to Ontario. The
Week is declared nationally, empha-
sizing the broad importance of
homemaking in Canada.
Homemaking is often regarded as
domestic and unskilled labour. An
equally important task is to educate
people that this is a myth. Home-
makers are skilled and should re-
ceive the attention, rewards and re-
spect they deserve. Their job
requires them to be sensitive to cli-
ents' needs, priorities and values.
Visiting Homemaker's Week is
not just any other week. It's a time
to reflect on what the quality of
homemaking service means to all
of us.

Thursday afternoon, we tried
something totally different. Our
baking ladies tried their hand at do-

Crime Stoppers and the Clinton
Police Force are seeking your help
in solving this break, enter, and
theft.
On September 12,1988 an eld-
erly Clinton woman left her resi-
dence to attend to an urgent family
matter out of town. Her home was
checked on September 14 and they
found it had been broken into. The
thieves broke a window and began
ransacking the house. Among
some of the stolen items was a
small gold ring with a diamond
which belong to her mother. Also
stolen was her own wedding ring, a
family ring with an emerald, and
several other pieces of jewelery
and cash. The estimated totoal
dollar was in excess of $1,000.
Insurance will cover some of that
loss, but how can the family rings
many years old, ever be replaced?
This woman didn't just lose valu-
ables, but she lost precious family
heirlooms.
If you can help this Clinton
woman get her possessions back or
help solve any other crime call
