Mosquitos dethroned
After winning the A champion-
ship in the annual St. Columban
tournament for the past two years
the Exeter Mosquito team travelled
to St. Columban for a third try.
1-lowevcr things did not go as
planned.
In their first game against Wal-
lace township the Exeter kids did
not play their usual game and were
hardpresscd to earn a 0-0 tie at the
end of regulation time.
In the shootou( that followed, Ex-
eter was a little more accurate than
their opponents and won the game
3-1. Scoring for Exeter were Marty
DeBruyn, Jason Willert and Brian
McAllister.
Goalie Darrin Kints stopped all
but one shot.

They managed an insurance run
in the eighth as Tom Tordoff
reached base on a fielder's choice
and scored on a two out single by
Brent Dawson.
Exctcr played without the servic-
es of Glen Thompson and Scott
Brintnell who did not dress due to
injury. Pete Tuckey and Larry
McCarter are also nursing minor
injuries.
The second game of the best of
three was scheduled to be played
last night in Fullarton. A third
game, if necessary, would be
played Thursday night in Exctcr at
9 p.m.

Seaforth
in playoffs
EXETER ER - After finishing
second in the Great Lakes Men's
Baseball League, Exeter met
Seaforth Tuesday in the' first
game of a best -of -three semi-
final series..Thc results of that
game were not available at press
time. •
If Express defeats Seaforth in
.the series, they will advance to
the final against the winner of a
best -of -three series between
Strathroy and Walkerton.
That final series won't be
played until aftcr Exeter hosts
their Senior D baseball tourney.

In the A semi final, Exeter came
up against league rival St. Colum -
ban II. After a very exciting game
in which both teams had chances to
score, St. Columban scored the
only goal of the game to win 1-0.
Defencemen Billy Kline and Ja-
son Willert played aa excellent
tournament for Exeter.
Shuffleboard
scores
EXETER - Steve Hrapchak was
in a familiar position Wednesday
when he topped the list in shuffle-
board with a score of 446 in six
games. Hrapchak was followed by
William Baechler with 403.
In five games of mixed shuffle-
board action, Harold Davis scored
457 to take top honours. Ray
Cottle followed with 440 and Wil-
ma Davis recorded a 409. Howard
Johns was just one point off with
408.
Thursday, Pearl McKnight turned
in a whopping 515 in five games
to claim high score. Harold Davis,
Wilma Davis and Allen Johns
found themselves in a three-way tie
for second place with 385 each.
Meine Eizenga placed third with
384 and Steve Hrapchak followed
with 375.
