Hundreds of entries
Good show despite weather
. KIRKTON - Despite a dry hot
summer, the Kirkton Horticultural
Society held another successful Fes-
tival of Flowers on August 16 at
the Kirkton-Woodham Community
hall.
There was 23 adults showing
with 221 entries and nine juniors
had 33 entries, three more than last
year. President Marjorie Atthill
welcomed a good crowd to the
show. Julie Meaghan favored with a

ally winding down. It's hard to be-

e-lieve .there are only two weeks left
before Labor Day.

Don Rogers of the Exeter Pentecos-
tal Tabernacle conduct our.worship
services on -Wednesday. We are
.looking forward to.Septcmber when
regular services will begin again;
Tuesday was such a hot day that
it seemed appropriate to make some
vanilla ice_ cream. Everyone en-
joyed watching the cream beat and
of course the best part was Sam=
piing it. You just can't beat ice
cream on a hot day. .
Thursday night was an evening of
big excitement at the Villa. We
had our annual Mock Disaster and
Evacuation. It went very well and
we are pleased to say that all resi-
`dcnts got out safely. We hope
nothing ever happens' but we know
that we are better prepared.
Banana Bingo was the name. of
the game of Friday night. There -
was little monkeying around as eve-.
ry•one was intent on winning those
bananas.. No cause for alarm
though, everyone went home a win-.

when showing. She said the junior
entries were excellent.
