Atoms wrap up season
By EIIy Van Bergen
EXETER - Atom Boys have fin-
ished their summer of 88 season.
They won six of thc 14 regular
games they played' and they took
the B Championship in the tourna-
ment in Hensall August 6 and 7.
There were 19 boys on the team,
five . of whom - Mark Parsons,
Ryan Soldan, Scott Keys, Ben Van
Bergen and Jeff Mason - never
missed a game.
Soldan, the team captain, is a
very good all round player and he
• and. Mason were the team's regular
pitchers. Mau Glavin, another ver-
satile player, tried his arm at pitch-
ing as did Trevor Obre.
Parsons and Chad Dalyrmpic
played well as. catchers. Glavin also
played catcher and when brother Ben
played third base they made a good
team.
Van Bcrgcn, Tony Pickering and
Chris MacDonald played strongly
as baseman and were good hard hit-
ters but Van Bergen was noted for
his strong throwing arm. •
If there were awards given for ca-
gcrness, Jeff Jarret, Bob. Hamilton
and Tony Eagleson would deserve
them. -
Keys could take an award for his
bubbly enthusiasm and Jason Grcn-
